OOTD: Winter Fox

29 December, 2011

Fox Jumper: Alice Takes A Trip, Dress (worn underneath): Crafted

Today hasn't been eventful in the slightest. It's been my first day off of work in a long while (unless you include Christmas day), so I decided to chill the hell out and tidy around the flat a little bit. I've eaten tons of chocolate instead of real food today too, simply because I've been too lazy to actually make anything remotely edible. But who cares?! It's December/eat-whatever-like-and-regret-it-next-month! Because of my intention of not leaving the house and making contact with the rest of the human race today, I didn't really think about what I wore.

The adorable fox jumper was a present from Elliot last Christmas. I have to admit although it is the sweetest thing, I don't wear it that much because the print on it is such awful quality! You can tell it's simply been done with a inkjet t-shirt transfer, which you can probably buy in Poundland! I know from past experience in DIY-ing t-shirts myself that after one wash they are ruined and start peeling off. So, although this jumper is ever so sweet I hardly wear it for fear of having to wash it. Febreeze might be a winner with this one!

I didn't get to take a photograph of the dress I'm wearing underneath as my boyfriend returned to Southampton earlier than I expected, so I spent some time catching up with him as I hadn't seen him since Christmas Eve morning! However, already he's left me again and ran off to work! Tsssk!

Pre-Christmas Haul

Eyelure Eyelashes & Adhesives, Silence & Noise Jumper from Urban Outfitters, Kimono from Urban Outfitters, Aztec Fringe Bag from Urban Outfitters

Here's a few things I bought just before Christmas and before I ran out of money *sob*. Hurry up student loan day! I have decided Revlon lipsticks are the one for me! I love the matte effect they give and they seem a lot more long-lasting than other drugstore brands. I've also recently found out a local market stall stocks the discontinued colours for only £2 each, compared to their retail price of £7.99! I've misplaced a couple of them already though it seems as I could only find 4 to photograph and I know I bought at least 6. I also stocked up on eyelashes and glue for the party season! You can never have too many eyelashes in my opinion and let's face it... I am an Essex girl, afterall!

I have also been abusing my employee discount at Urban Outfitters! Before Christmas as an extra employee benefit we were given an extra 40% off of sale items which brought them down to a ridiculously cheap price considering they already had at least 50% off. If I had more money I would have snapped up so much more! However, I picked up this snuggly, oversied, thick knit jumper, which is amazingly comfortable! I also bought a beautiful, little, chiffon, tye dye kimono with lace inserts, which I'm yet to wear! On top of those, I also bought myself this amazing little Aztec print fringed bag which was originally £60 and I only had to pay £15 - amazing! I haven't been able to hit up the sales this year so far, because of my poorly looking bank balance but I got so many lovely things for Christmas that I'm not that fussed! :)

OOTD: Hunting For Witches

28 December, 2011

Crop Top: Vintage via eBay, Maxi Sheer Maxi Skirt: Republic, Wedges: H&M

This is the first time I've worn this skirt since I bought it in the end of summer sale (not that it's very summery!), and embarrassingly I realised at work I had left the label on! I'm not usually one to shop in Republic but when I saw this on the website for only £10 I couldn't leave it! I had been looking for an affordable sheer black maxi for a while.

This antique lace gold crop top was only 99p! I love little eBay bargains like this, especially as I get so much wear out of it. I'm wearing my brand new wedges yet again! They're more like platforms as the wedge is so small, which makes them extremely comfortable. They're currently filling the creeper shaped hole in my heart at the moment, as the creepers I received for Christmas are tragically too big for me. I'm waiting on my boyfriend to exchange them for me so I can begin wearing them.

With New Year fast approaching, I've been thinking about what to wear and more importanly some realistic New Year's Resolutions. I only kept a couple of this year's including maintaining a size 8, keeping away from doner kebabs and visiting Italy. Not too bad, I suppose!

OOTD: Dancing With Wolves

27 December, 2011

T-Shirt: Vintage via Glastonbury Festival, Cardigan: Vintage via Beatnik Emporium, Earrings & Necklace: Topshop

I'm already back in Southampton and I'm here completely by myself at Christmas time due to having to go to work. I honestly had the worst day in a long time yesterday too as my journey back was a complete nightmare! My local tube station was closed because of the strike, so I had to take a bus into central and jump onto one of the few trains that were running to Victoria Coach Station. It took 3 hours compared to the usual 35 minutes on the train which is ridiculous! I was then unlucky enough to witness a horrific motorcycle accident on the motorway. I've never been face to face with something like that before and it really did get to me. It was ever so tragic and sad. Because of the accident, my coach was delayed and I had to literally go straight from the coach to work. Happy Boxing Day to me!

Today has been a little better though, thankfully! I asked for some overtime at work because it felt pointless me going through all of that hassle to get back to Southampton and leave my family at Christmas time for what ended up being a 3 hour shift. My outfit is pretty simple today. The t-shirt was only like £5 or something silly! My hair is just awful at the moment, hence the reason why it's in a top knot. The winter winds are taking their toll on it :(

Merry Christmas!

25 December, 2011

Just sharing a few snaps of Christmas day in my brief visit home to Essex. I have to go back to Southampton tomorrow because I have work in the afternoon. I'm dreading the journey across London to catch my coach as the tube drivers are selfishly on strike, again! If I have to get a bus to the other side of London, I will not be a happy bunny!

All in all, I've had a lovely time and I've got some wonderful presents (as you can see above). I finally got some Underground creepers from Elliot, but sadly they're too big so I'm going to have to wait for them to be exchanged before I can wear them :'( My feet seem to just be getting smaller and smaller these days! He also bought me a Kindle complete with 3G and I've already downloaded my first book for it - "Hard-Boiled Wonderland & The End of The World" by Haruki Murakami. He's a fantastic storyteller, so if you're into reading I highly recommend you read his books, in particular "Norwegian Wood" (which incidently I happened to get the DVD of today). I was also lucky enough to receive Rihanna's perfume "Reb'l Fleur", which is a lovely, sweet, girly scent that I've wanted for a while. On top of that I also got Lacoste's "Touch of Pink", along with much, much more!

I know I've been off of the blogging game for a week or so but I've been so tied down with work. Anyone who works in retail can vouch how much Christmas physically drains you. I should hopefully get back into routine once I'm back in Southampton tomorrow. Merry Christmas, my lovelies! I hope you've all had a wonderful day and stuffed yourself silly!

OOTD: Aztec & Leather

19 December, 2011

Cardigan: Urban Outfitters, £50, Top: AllSaints Sale, £30, Skirt: Peacocks Sale, £6, Shoes: H&M, £24.99

I'm back to my normal self today with no hint of pink whatsoever! I feel much more comfortable in dark colours and I personally believe they suit me much better. I bought this cardigan in the Bristol store in January on the day of my birthday. I wasn't completely certain whether to buy it at first because of it being so pricey, but I've definitely got my wear out of it the past year. I've worn it hundreds of times and it's still in one piece, which really does show that spending a little extra on a good quality item is well worth it.

These shoes were a little Christmas present to myself. I know I shouldn't have but I literally couldn't resist! They're the comfiest wedges in the world and they're so huge! The photo doesn't show very well because of the dark winter lighting, but they're actually a contrast of faux leather and faux suede. It's official, I'm in love! I'll be getting plenty of wear out of them over the winter period.

OOTD: Flowers & Mushrooms

18 December, 2011

Vintage Floral Jumper: £4 via eBay, Mushroom Print T-Shirt: £12, Brick Lane Market, Pink Jeans: £40, Topshop

This look is a lot more girly compared to what I usually wear. It's also a bit summery for December, but I'm not bothered. It's nice to add some colour into an outfit somedays! Plus, Southampton seems to be the only place in the country at the moment where we still have blazing sunshine and no sign of snow! I bought these pink jeans a size down before the summer and I hadn't worn them, but I was pleasantly surprised to find out a week ago they now fit! I have a strange obsession with mushrooms, I love drawing them and just think they're fascinating to look at, so when I saw this t-shirt on a stall in Brick Lane earlier this year I just had to get it. The print is repeated all over, including the back, so £12 was an absolute steal for this original t-shirt!

Today, I booked my travel home to Essex for Christmas day and started some Christmas shopping! I'm so happy now I know I'm going home for Christmas! Unfortunately I have to work both Christmas Eve and Boxing Day, but as long as I get to see my family on Christmas Day itself I'm content! I absolutely adore what I've bought for my sister's present (I won't post it on here in case she sees!), but I'm contemplating purchasing it for myself as well!

OOTD: Velvet Garden

17 December, 2011

Velvet Blazer: Charity Shop, Dress: Topshop Sale

Today is my first day off from either university or work in a long time, so I'm planning to make the most of it. I'm meeting a friend for a festive Starbucks later (can't wait) and I'm getting a lot of desperately needed chores done (my ironing pile is through the roof!). I may or may not go out tonight, I'm undecided as of yet. Let's see how I feel tonight!

This dress is one of my favourites. I picked it up for only £20 in the end of season Topshop sale. It's such a beautiful and unique design that I haven't seen repeated in any other shops. The blazer was yet another charity shop purchase, being only £5! It's such a perfect fit too, which is rare to find. My love for velvet seems to shine through in every outfit I wear these days!

Glossybox December 2011

16 December, 2011

Nouveau Lashes Noir Mascara, Rituals Foaming Shower Gel, Cargo Lip Gloss, Deborah Lippmann Nail Varnish in Razzle Dazzle with Stripped to Go Sachet & FAB Face Cleanser

My special Christmas edition Glossybox arrived today. I've been so impatient and excited for this month's box as I was expecting something special considering it's Christmas! Glossybox certainly delivered with all great items, including two full sized products (Nouveau Lashes Mascara & Rituals Foaming Shower Gel). The mascara retails at £14.99, so it really is worth more than you're paying with just the one product.

I haven't used any of the products yet other than the Deborah Lippman Nail Varnish, which has instantly become my favourite polish to date! I had been eyeing it up for a while, but £14 is a pretty steep price to pay. However, having now tried it out I will most likely repurchase it full size. It's a beautiful deep blackish pink with pink glitter. It has the right balance between girly and grunge.

Although, I haven't had the chance to try out the other products I know I will definitely use them. For me, this is my favourite Glossybox yet. I hope they take all of the good feedback they receive this month and feed it into future boxes. They've also set up beauty profiling on their website now, so they can send you more suitable samples and cater to your beauty needs, which is a fantastic idea. I don't think I need any more anti-aging products afterall!

Today was my last day of university before breaking up for Christmas. Although, I have a lot of work to do over the holidays, it's still a relief to have a break! I plan on resting for a few days, before getting back to work on my drawings and essay, on top of 30 hours a week at work. Oh the joys of working in retail at Christmas!

OOTD: You Like Your Girls Insane

15 December, 2011

Arran Jumper: Blonde & Blonde, Shirt: Vintage Ralph Lauren

Please excuse the awkward, ugly hands in these photos. I never realised how odd they looked until I had uploaded them! I bought the jumper for a mere £25 from my last job and I get so much wear out of it. It was one of the more decent garments they sell in comparison to the velour Lipsy tracksuits and UGG boots. The shirt belongs to my boyfriend but in all honesty I get more use out of it than him!

You may or may not have noticed that I finally retouched my roots after much debate. I miss the darker roots but I figured they'll have grown back out in another month or so. I'm thinking about making the ends a bit more blonder as well, so the dip-dye is more striking rather than subtle.

I'm STILL waiting on my Glossybox for this month! Everyone but me seems to have received them. I really do hate December post - it's particularly awful where I am! Here's to hoping I come back from uni to find it tomorrow!

OOTD: Sunday Morning, Rain Is Falling

11 December, 2011

Vintage Shirt: Beatnik Emporium, Playsuit: Urban Outfitters, Trilby: Warehouse, Doc Martens: Bought from a friend years ago

I debuted my new playsuit at work today. As it is quite dressy (and a little too nice for work!), I decided to dress it down with my favourite oversized, vintage lumberjack shirt, my Doc Marten's and a trilby. I bought my Doc Marten's when I was around 16 years old and managed to snap them up for just £30! I really love striking shoes, I think they can make an outfit and the colour of these really are striking! I have a thing for the colour gold, I love it against a solid black outfit. I'm actually also the proud owner of a metallic gold pair of Hunter wellies!

I'm in love with my new Revlon Black Cherry Lipstick so much that's I've worn it almost everyday straight since I've bought it. It's a matte formula, which I prefer, and it lasts for hours without reapplying. I'm currently watching the X-Factor final and I'm rooting for Little Mix! I think Marcus is a bit of a Joe McElderry and would be a wasted win, in my opinion.

I have a long week ahead including a critique at the end of the week, which I am no where near ready for. A week of solid drawing is ahead!
