OOTD: My New Sugarlips Dress

30 March, 2012

Hat: Vintage via Beatnik Emporium, £23 | Dress: c/o Sugarlips Apparel | White Ankle Socks: Primark, £2.50 | Brogues: River Island Sale, £12

OH HELLO OUTDOOR PHOTOS! Here is solid evidence that every once in a while I do actually make it beyond the front door of my apartment. Only sometimes though... when I'm feeling particularly brave! I took my boyfriend shopping for some new clothes today and decided to wear my new Sugarlips dress, which only arrived yesterday - eager beaver! Also, today is supposedly the last day of the Great British springtime heatwave of 2012, so it felt appropriate to wear a cute little summer dress. I absolutely adore this dress as it's lovely and floaty and just the right length. Too many shops nowadays seem to think it's appropriate to sell dresses that expose your entire derrière (I'M LOOKING AT YOU TOPSHOP!), which is not the look I am trying to achieve, so thank you Sugarlips for creating such a beautiful dress in where my decency can remain in tact!

There is so much more I'm currently coveting from their website including this amazing fringed cardigan and this billowy blouse. A lottery win anytime now would be wonderful thank you, so I can fill my wardrobe with their lovely tops and dresses! I put the mid-blink photo up for the giggles. I always manage to ruin at least one photo with my chronic blinking! Although, I was shopping for my boyfriend today I took my first step towards the pastel trend today and purchased the cutest pink satchel from Matalan. After all, it's probably time I started dressing more like a girl...

OOTD: Put Me In A Movie

29 March, 2012

Hat: Vintage via Beatnik Emporium, £23 | Lace Crop: Topshop (old) via eBay, £15 | Maxi Button Up Skirt: Vintage via Charity Shop, £3.99 | Tapestry Boots: Office Sale (old), £25 | Spiked Friendship Bracelet: Urban Outfitters sale + discount, £5

I've got the ol' muffin top midriff out today. I really need to start doing sit-ups to regain a crop top appropriate tummy! The double helping of chocolate cake at lunch definitely did not benefit this (so worth it though!). I absolutely love this skirt, so much so that this is the second day in a row I've worn it - skank! I've been lusting after this Minkpink maxi skirt forever now, but the price tag makes me wince slightly. This one cost me less than £4 and is almost exactly the same in style! I'm going to now be scouring the charity shops for another similar design as I adore it!

I bought these tapestry 'witch' boots a couple of years ago in the Office sale, but I never ever wear them. I think now I'm sporting more maxi skirts and dresses it'll be a lot easier to work them into my outfits. I'm still really tempted to get my full fringe cut back in, but I'm dreading the hassle of styling it to perfection every day. I don't know what to do!

I had an exciting morning of post this morning with these two beauties arriving! The Aimee Du blouse I won as part of Constance-Victoria's giveaway. I was absolutely chuffed to win because it is truly one of the most beautiful items of clothing I have ever seen. The animal print is absolutely magical and wonderful. I cannot wait to wear it! Hopefully a nice meal out in a restaurant will pop up soon, so I can wear it out then. The dress was gifted to me from LA-based clothing company Sugarlips. It's just the right amount of baggy, so it's really flattering when worn. I'm excited to style it as soon as I possible!

OOTD: I Wish I Had A Mango Tree

26 March, 2012

Sunglasses: Camden Market, £5 | Dress: Vintage via Charity Shop, £5 | Glitter Platforms: Urban Outfitters, £30

I apologise for I am in fact wearing the same pair of platforms again even though I own a million and one shoes. I just love these ones a little too much! They're just the perfect amount of fabulous and tacky. I bought this dress last month for just £5 in a charity shop in Winchester. I was going to leave it behind but grabbed it at the last minute whilst I was at the till. I think I would have completely regretted it if I had left it behind after all £5 for a dress is ever so cheap.

My hair's finally long enough to be worn in a side parting without that awkward mid-grown out fringe. No more massive spam head! I am kinda missing my Florence-esque full fringe though, but it's taken the best part of a year to grow out, so I should probably just leave it! Today's been rather boring, the only social contact I've had is with the lady in the Post Office. I now plan to spend the rest of my evening drinking cider, singing and dancing around my flat to Rihanna BY MYSELF. Party fucking animal.

OOTD: Penny Lane

25 March, 2012

Burgundy Floppy Hat: New Look, £10 | Lace Crop Top : Vintage via Charity Shop, £2 | Floral Palazzo Trousers: Primark (last year), £10 | Necklace: Temporary Secretary | Glitter Platforms: Urban Outfitters Sale, £30

I've taken a slightly different turn on the outfit post today and abandoned the usual stand-up pose in front of my plain white wall. Unfortunately, I don't have anybody willing to take my photos for me, so I have to find my own ways of being creative with balancing my camera on a few boxes and using a 10-second self-timer! If you follow me on Twitter you will already know I spent around two hours this morning struggling to get tickets for Radio 1's Hackney Weekend. After a lot of website crashing, tweeting and swearing I finally managed to get tickets for my sister and me for the Sunday! I will finally be able to see the beautiful Lana Del Rey (& Rihanna) for free - I'm extremely happy! Did anyone else manage to get tickets?

I'm almost at 200 GFC followers, which is absolutely insane! When I started this blog, I didn't even expect to reach 20 let alone 200! Thank you to everyone who takes the time to read this blog. I promise I will give something back and will be hosting a giveaway soon! I'm now going to spend the rest of this beautiful spring evening putting all of my junk on eBay to earn a few extra pennies! I think a trip to either Bournemouth or Brighton beach is most definitely in order this week!

OOTD: The Liquor on Your Lips Makes You Dangerous

24 March, 2012

Silk Shirt: Vintage Dior via Urban Outfitters, £16 | Studded Bralet: Topshop Sale (old), £10 | Velvet Skirt: Primark Sale (old), £3 | Camaro Creepers: Underground, £90

I picked up this vintage shirt at the Oxford Circus store whilst visiting the London a few days ago. It was such a pleasant surprise for me to realise that it is in fact vintage Christian Dior! I couldn't really say "no" considering it only worked out to around £16 with my staff discount. My David Dickinson side strikes again!

I'm back in Southampton and reality has well and truly kicked in as I spent the morning at work. Early mornings are not my friend. The weather is beautiful at the moment, but unfortunately I never cope too well in the heat so I've been left with a horribly painful headache, which even asprin doesn't seem to be able to cure at the moment. I'm about to go and curl into a ball under the duvet and try my best to rid myself of this pain!

This week has mainly been about chilling the hell out after a stressful two final weeks at uni before breaking up for Easter. I've been at home in Essex the majority of the time, which has been wonderful because the last time I was back was two months ago! For that reason there is quite a few photos of my dogs, especially Dude who happens to be stealing all the limelight away from Toffee! The bugger! I'm dreading having to go back down South tonight, because I adore living in Essex & London in comparison to Southampton.

Also, as you may have seen I blogged about visiting 'Pick Me Up' at Somerset House yesterday with my lovely friend, Soozy, before headed to Oxford Street for some poor man's window shopping! I did however pick up an astonishingly cheap vintage Dior silk shirt from UO, which worked out to about £15 with my staff discount. I can't wait to wear it! I suffered absolute heartbreak when I had to let go of the pastel lilac creepers in my size, because of being so poor. Boo hoo! I hope you're all enjoying the sunshine - this is most definitely strawberry cider weather!

'Pick Me Up' Contemporary Graphic Art Fair at Somerset House

22 March, 2012

Pick Me Up Contemporary Graphic Art Fair at Somerset House (22 March - 1 April 2012)

This is a rather picture heavy post even though it's only a small selection of the photos I took today at Somerset House. This is the second year I've attended 'Pick Me Up', which happens to be the UK's only art fair specifically dedicated to illustration and graphic arts. Being the model art student that I so obviously am (note the sarcasm), I spent the last of my pennies this month making sure I went. It was of course worth every last penny (even though it was only £6 entry with a student ID) and is hugely inspiring for any practicing illustrator or graphic artist. As well as the show itself, they hold talks and workshops with the exhibiting illustrators for you to participate in.

My absolute favourite was the work of Niki Pilkington with her whimsical pencil drawings of beautiful girls and nature with 3-D elements, in particular the fox piece caught my attention (second photo down). Much to my delight there were foxes absolutely everywhere this year including a fox costume created by Luke Best, so I was simply in my element! The visit has certainly inspired me to get going with my latest project!

Fresh Flames Boutique Style Challenge

19 March, 2012

TOP (Daytime Look): Dress: c/o Fresh Flames Boutique | Dip Dye Denim Jacket: DIY, £1. | Knee-Highs: Primark, £1 | Velvet Doc Martens: eBay, £112
BOTTOM (Evening Look): Dress: c/o Fresh Flames Boutique | Necklace: Topshop Sale, £1.50 | Studded Shoes : Urban Outfitters (old), £100

Fresh Flames Boutique recently asked me if I would like to be a part of their Blogger's Style Challenge, so I picked this lovely grey, glittery dress! Usually, I scream and run away from anything that's remotely body-con, because I have massive hips and a bum bigger than Russia that not even control pants can save. Oh, and don't even get me started on my constant food baby! However, even though it's a little scary I think once in a while I think it's good to step out of your comfort zone (aka. baggy dresses and boyfriend's t-shirts). After a bit of squirming to try and get into this dress, I've found it actually sucks you in! Hallelujah!

This dress is actually incredibly versatile! When I think of bodycon, I usually limit it to evening wear and tottering around in heels, so when Fresh Flames sent me the challenge to dress it up for a daytime look too, I must admit I was dubious at first. It was actually surprisingly easy to work it into a casual and comfortable day-time look considering my previous doubts. My ever faithful velvet Doc Martens and knee-highs worked with it wonderfully to dress it down. Of course, it also works incredibly well as an evening dress! It would be simple enough to just throw it on with a pair of heels, but I wanted to add a little extra so I popped this tie-dye kimono over the top.

I think this is possibly the first time my legs have ever appeared on my blog - shock horror! Blog, this my legs. Legs, this is my blog. I must admit I'm not a fan of baring my legs as it scares me to death that the world has to see them in all their pasty pale glory, but tights just didn't seem to work as well with these looks! Some serious bravery on my part - I deserve a cookie.

OOTD: Skipping Ropes, Skipping Heartbeats

18 March, 2012

Fringe Leather Gillet: All Saints, £295 | Lilac Patterned Midi Dress: Vintage via Charity Shop, £3.99 | Red Velvet Doc Marten's: eBay, £112 | Necklace: c/o Smash & Grab| Black Velvet Rucksack: Urban Outfitters Sale, £7.50.

Happy Mother's Day to all of the wonderful mothers out there, particularly my own, of course! I'm rather upset that I'm not able to spend it with her this year because of being stuck in Southampton. However, I'll make up for it next week when I go back home to visit Essex.

This AllSaints Gillet is the most expensive item of clothing I own and therefore rarely ever leaves the wardrobe! I'm a world class klutz, so if I wore it out frequently I'm sure I would accidently destroy it somehow! I didn't actually pay for it though, it was a birthday present a few years ago from my boyfriend. Good boy!

I found this beautifully vibrant dress in a good old charity shop a few weeks ago. It's absolutely massive on me, but it's nothing a little belt around the waist can't sort out! The summery, intense colours and aztec style pattern were just too much for me to say "no" and it was an absolute snip at less than £4! The backpack was also a bargain, I wanted it whilst it was full price at £40 before Christmas and I chanced across the last one left over in the stock room last month reduced to just £10, my staff discount on top of that made it a measly £7.50. I don't usually include bags in my outfit posts (I have no idea why), but this rucksack has been my 'go to' bag of the minute! I won this wonderful Smash & Grab necklace through the lovely Laura's giveaway. I am completely besotted with it as it is perfection in a necklace! I really suggest you have a browse through their website and ogle at all of the beautiful jewellery they have to offer!

Weekend Wishlist: Urban Outfitters

17 March, 2012

1., 2., 3. & 4.

We've had a flood of beautiful, new summer clothes at work the past few weeks and I cannot contain myself. I really am like a kid in a sweet shop! This is only a tiny fraction of what I'm coveting though! The digital print and colours of dress number 1 are to die for! Something Else are a brand I've only discovered recently since starting work at Urban Outfitters and their pieces are ever so dreamy (as well as pricey!). As you may have noticed, I've been getting into the maxi trend a lot more recently and this blue & green maxi dress (2) would be a perfect addition to my wardrobe for summer. Minkpink are another favourite brand of mine and never fail to let me down. This little fringed number (3) would look wonderful with some cut-off Levi's. Last but not least is the tie-dye midi (4) to add to my collection of tie-dye dresses!

Unfortunately, I'll just have to carry on lusting after these bits as I haven't even got two pennies to rub together at the moment! Hopefully some miraculous turn of events, such as winning the lottery or finding a money tree, will change that soon!

A Week (Or Two) In Instagram #6

16 March, 2012

1. My artwork in my living room. 2. My dresser. 3. One Direction wrapping for my boyfriend's birthday present - I think I appreciated it more than him! 4. New granny plates for me! 5. I finished "Catching Fire". 6. Nail polishes from Lily's giveaway. 7. Getting blonder. 8. Went to see Laura Marling at Southampton Guildhall. 9. Amazing lights at Laura Marling.

I haven't been particularly snap happy the past couple of weeks, because I've been far too busy. However, Easter is finally here and I can enjoy a nice four weeks break from university. Of course, I still have tons of work to be getting on with but the fact I do not have to wake up early to drag myself to Winchester three days a week is lovely. I can wake up whenever I want and work according to my own schedule.

I have nothing to report other than I finished the second installment of "The Hunger Games" and I'm now approaching the end of the third and final book! I haven't been hooked on a book like this for so long! The last time I was this attached to a book that blew me away was probably "The Time Traveler's Wife" in where I nearly had a public emotional breakdown whilst reading the ending on a train! Oh God, the memories! I will most definitely be going to see the film on it's release (or maybe even advance screenings as I'm that eager!) next week.

OOTD: Summer Mood

14 March, 2012

Snakeskin Cropped Blouse: New Look Sale, £5 | Velvet Pink Bandeau: New Look (old), £8 | Velvet Black Maxi Skirt: Topshop Sale, £15

So far I've received a lot of positive feedback regarding the new look for the blog and new name, which is amazing. Thank you, guys! I apologise for my bare feet in this outfit photo, I hate feet as much as the next person but it's an outfit that doesn't feel particularly right with shoes and I'm seriously lacking on the sandal front! My camera unfortunately doesn't pick up colour very well, but I whacked a bit more lightener on the ends of my hair today to bring it up a bit blonder. It's more blonde than the photos show which appears to be more of a "strawberry blonde" aka. "ginger in denial". I am now well and truly one step closer to dreamy, pastel hair! I'll throw some more lightener on it once it's had a chance to recover, so I can take another step forward in my mission to become blonde!

Under all the stress of university work, I actually only remembered this morning I'm going to see Laura Marling at the Guildhall tonight. It will only be the 3929904957th time I've seen her live. No biggy.
