This Could Be Anywhere In The World

17 September, 2012

Blouse*: c/o Glamorous // Skirt: Topshop (old), £36 // Loafers: Charity Shop, £5

The worst has happened… our Internet has been cut off and I'm currently blogging this from the comfort of my local Pret A Manger. However, the Wi-fi is horribly slow here and it's getting rather frustrating. I'm not even sure when we're going to be getting our Internet back, so I may just end up becoming a regular blogger at Pret. Last week, I received a very generous package from one of my favourite brands, Glamorous, and it included this gorgeous, black, chiffon, contrast collar blouse which has made a lovely addition to my A/W wardrobe. Every autumn, I switch from my crop tops and bralets to button-up blouses. This lovely, little blouse even has silver collar tip details, which also look wonderful when peeking out from a thick knit jumper.

I teamed with one of my favourite skirts from Topshop, which has gold bead crosses embellished over a black chiffon material. I've recently become ridiculously excited for the upcoming season, particularly Christmas even though it's a good three months away! I can't wait for the German market to return to the high street, the endless amounts of chocolate, the lights, the chilly winter nights and everybody just being in the Christmas spirit! Is anyone else excited already or is it just me?

The Pretty Junk

13 September, 2012

I think it's pretty obvious I'm a shameless slut for vintage, so I adore discovering online, independent vintage stores to fill my wardrobe. When I came across The Pretty Junk I was in heaven as they host a mixture of vintage treasures, as well as some carefully selected modern pieces that stay true to their brand's fun, retro image. There's a strong vibe of cool L.A. Americana that runs through the store with their slogan tees, loud print playsuits and cut-off, customised 'Daisy Dukes'. Even the models seem to be having a hell of a lot of fun!

ONE. // TWO. // THREE.

I picked out a few dresses that particularly caught my eye on the website that are still available to buy. I'm a bit of a sucker for a paisley print, and the batwing sleeve on the first dress gives it a perfect 80's feel. I don't think I can never have enough crotchet dresses and a red one is definitely missing from my collection! I would love to layer it over a slip dress then throw on an embroidered waistcoat over the top. The third and final little black, studded bodycon number is from their modern day collection. I'm only just starting to welcome bodycon back into my life but haven't got a simple, little black number yet. I'm truly gutted that this vest has sold out and I'm hoping they're going to re-stock it at some point in the future. Not only do The Pretty Junk stock a wonderful collection of clothes, but they also sell gifts which includes records and this Sony vintage Walkman! Who wouldn't want one of those?!

A/W Wishlist

12 September, 2012

ONE. // TWO. // THREE. // FOUR. // FIVE.

1.) The swift arrival of September is here after a pretty dismal summer now means it's officially Autumn and the high street is now an abundance of burgundy knits and khaki jackets in preparation for the coming Winter months. I've had my own trusty, faux, bomber leather jacket from a concession at Topshop for a good 5 years but it's starting to look a little worn and tattered. I've decided I wanted to replace it with a studded, biker style jacket and this particular jacket from Glamorous is just perfect!

2.) Along with the rest of the female population, I've been lusting over Jeffrey Campbell's Roscoe boots forever. I love the cut-out detailing which means they would look great if worn barefoot or even with a pair of cute ankle socks to juxtapose the masculinity of the boot. The irritating thing is I cannot seem to find them sold anywhere in the UK and I hate paying custom charges on top of an already pricey pair of boots. Just give me them NOW.

3.) I don't think I really suit beanie hats, but that doesn't stop me wanting to wear them and wish ever so hard that I can pull the off. The horrible truth is I look like a burglar when I do wear them! I promise I'm not out to rob your houses. This simple little grey ASOS beanie is both cute and practical as it would go with pretty much anything in my wardrobe whilst keeping my ears warm at the same time.

4.) This studded, leather Topshop bowler bag is an ideal size to fit my everyday essentials in for winter. Although I have an existing collection and certain soft spot for leather, studded bags already, I feel like they could do with a new sister and this would sit comfortably on my shoulder for the next few months.

5.) Galaxy printed, velvet and Evil Twin?! I'm almost certain that this dress was designed with me in mind! It's a little on the pricey side at £85, but Evil Twin is on the higher price bracket of the high street market. I could wait for the end of season sale, but I really want this dress for the Christmas party season, which is fast approaching (eeeeeee!).

To Hell With Good Intentions

07 September, 2012

Silk Slip Dress*: c/o Vintage Style Me // Waistcoat: Urban Outfitters (old), Present // Necklace*: c/o Tentative Decisions // Flatforms*: c/o Tribeca Shoes

A little while back now, I saw this post by the lovely Rhiannon, the talented lady behind online store Vintage Style Me, and I was truly inspired by her styling of a vintage, silk nightwear slip as outerwear. On initial thought to some, wearing a nightie as a daytime dress may seem a little sleazy but Rhiannon works it with every bit of class and elegance. She wore it wonderfully by toughening it up with a pair of boots, which looked so effortless. In fact, upon first glance you wouldn't guess it was nightwear at all!

Rhiannon then sweetly offered to send me two vintage slips from her store, Vintage Style Me, to style myself into everyday daytime looks. This dusty pink, little number is the first of the two! I decided to juxtapose the feminine, silky, pink with a leather, studded waistcoat to grunge it up a little. My new Tribeca flatforms seemed to sit hand-in-hand with the matching waistcoat. I've already got so many ideas for the second silk slip, especially down to my recent obsession with Boardwalk Empire and the wonderful costume choice of all of the flapper girls!

Tribeca Studded Flatforms

06 September, 2012

Studded Black Flatforms* c/o Tribeca Shoes

When I was contacted by Tribeca Shoes to pick a pair of shoes for review from their store, this pair of faux suede, black, studded flatforms jumped out at me. They're perfect for dressing up a daytime look or worn in the evening as a substitute for heels. Flatforms are in fact the greatest invention in the world for a lady as ungraceful as myself as there can be no unsteady stiletto mishaps in these flatforms. So, I just may have once ended up with my heel caught down a drain once and taken the whole metal grate with me in my next step, cue some passing man bursting into hysterics, which could have spurred on my now phobia of stilettos.

As you can probably see from these photos I've worn them a number of times already since receiving them just last week! They're just ever so comfortable and go with almost everything, so for the time being they've replaced my trusty Topshop Allegra boots for nights out. Tribeca Shoes have a host of shoes at affordable prices and although it appears they're out of stock of these beauties, there's still these gorgeous studded ankle boots & Kylie Chelsea boots that have caught my eye. Tribeca are also offering first time customers 15% off their first order with the code TRIBECA007 and on top of that they offer free delivery!

Tentative Decisions

02 September, 2012

XL Purple & Cobalt Aura Quartz Crystal Bullet Necklace*, Agate Slice Ring*, Turquoise Tibetan Tooth Necklace* all c/o Tentative Decisions

When the lovely Kay at Tentative Decisions contacted me to see if I would like to feature some of their jewellery on my blog I really did practically jump at the chance. Tentative Decisions is the equivalent of Aladdin's Cave with an array of beautifully handmade crystal and natural stone jewellery. I'm known for being overly picky with my jewellery, but I can honestly say that I would happily add the whole store to my jewellery collection.

My particular favourite has to be the Quartz Crystal Bullet Necklace; my pathetic little camera really does not do it justice! The crystal captures a mixture of alluring purple and gold tones that are completely captivating when the pendant hits the light. Purple is also fast becoming my favourite colour for Autumn and Winter, so it will be a staple in this season's wardrobe. Each piece that is crafted with semi precious stones in store is completely unique, meaning no two are the same. That is certainly something to be said in today's market in where everything on the high street is completely identical and mass produced. Any of TD's jewels would make an ideal gift (hint, hint) as they are also so lovingly and well presented in a small, black gift box. I certainly have my eye on purchasing the Agate Geode Slice Necklace and the Titanium Quartz Bullet Necklace to add to my collection.
