Trick or Treat?

31 October, 2012

Dress: Charity Shop, £6 // Peter Pan Collar: Dorothy Perkins, £16 // Earrings: Urban Outfitters, £6 (w/ staff discount) // Boots: Primark, £15

Happy Halloween, my lovelies! I'm fully in the Halloween spirit and I'm super excited to celebrate tonight by getting dressed up, dancing and drinking as much wine as my body can consume. Although this outfit isn't my costume, I wore this vampy ensemble as I ran around town today picking up the entry wristbands and last minute bits for tonight. I literally only bought this blood red, velvet dress yesterday on my way home from uni as I was browsing through charity shops. I have a little bit of a love for velvet with velvet pieces in my wardrobe nearing the 30 mark! You can never have enough velvet in my opinion!

I wore it with my Peter Pan collar that I picked up from Dotty P's around a month ago when my student loan came through and I didn't batter at eyelid at spending 1, 600 pennies on it (although I did get a rather cheeky student discount on top of that). I'm rather glad I did as it's the loveliest Peter Pan collar I've come across. The Peter Pan collar and red velvet combination reminds me of a particular Oh My Love dress I've been lusting after recently. Enjoy yourselves tonight whatever your plans may be!

Partywear Picks

29 October, 2012

1. // 2. // 3. // 4.

The festive party season is fast approaching, so I've had my eye upon many a dresses for the obvious endless parties I hope to be invited to (or not!). If that should fail, at least I'll have a bunch of pretty dresses to swan around the house in pretending I have somewhere to go! Warehouse in particular have got many beautiful dresses that have taken my fancy. I've selected four of my favourites in the wishlist above.

1. I don't think it's possible to ever go wrong with a Peter Pan collar! Even more so when they're embellished, like the one on this adorable little, navy blue, skater dress. Usually skater shaped dresses are a little more casual for day-to day wear, but the sheer chiffon fabric and the heavily embellished neckline dress up the traditional skater shape. I also adore how the back of this dress is completely sheer, which makes it that little bit extra special!

2. You may have picked up from the title of my blog that I have a thing for feathers, I love the delicacy and beauty of them. In fact, I love them so much I even have one tattooed onto me. When I'm wearing them I feel like I could in fact be as Florence Welch in all her feathered outfit glory. This dress looks spectacular and the feathers contrast perfectly with the leather.

3. This purple-red lace bodice number is such a gorgeous colour that is perfect for A/W. The lace, Victorian-inspired, panelled dress would be a more than suitable edition to anyone's party season wardrobe. I can even see it being styled down with some buckled, black ankle boots, a chunky knit cardigan and a messy top knot for a day time look.

4. My fourth and final choice is actually a playsuit rather than a dress. Wearing a playsuit to a formal party can be questionable, but this playsuit may be THE exception. It is perfectly tailored and has a gorgeous studded collar, which everyone seems to absolutely love right now, including me. Also, the studs give the tailored shape a bit of an edgier feel.

Let's Take Our Precious Time About It

27 October, 2012

Studded Blouse*: c/o Glamorous // Skirt: Champagne Diamond, £18 // Shoes: Topshop Sale (old), £25

I couldn't wait to show you my new favourite skirt that arrived just yesterday! Don't get me wrong, I love the tapestry cat trend that's everywhere at the moment (I even have a tapestry kitten bag!), but I've always been more of a 'dog person'. I suppose you could put that down to growing up in a home where we fostered abandoned dogs as well as owning our own loveable pet pooches. When I saw the lovely Lucy was offering a dog as well as cat version of her handmade skirts on her online store, Champagne Diamond, I ordered one without hesitation! I'm so glad I did, because it's instantly become one of my wardrobe favourites!

This white, chiffon blouse was sent to me by Glamorous. It has spiked, silver, stud detailing on the shoulder, which juxtaposes perfectly with the feminine sheer chiffon. I have a serious lack of plain, unpatterned tops, so I welcomed it with open arms as it'll pretty much go with any of my patterned skirts. You may have noticed I've had my fringe cut back in. I think I'm generally happier with my hair when I have a fringe as it doesn't take too much styling in the morning. I'm booked in for a full haircut next week, which absolutely terrifies me because I've spent so much time in trying to grow my hair! However, the ends of my hair are starting to look a little worse for wear. Hopefully, the hairdresser will be kind to me and not hack too much away!

There Is A Light That Never Goes Out

19 October, 2012

Dress*: c/o Chi Chi Clothing // Hat: Vintage via Beatnik Emporium, £23 // Tights: Topshop Sale, £3 // Allegra Boots: Topshop, £75

I was recently contacted on behalf of Chi Chi Clothing, an online evening and prom dress retailer asking if I would like to feature one of their dresses on my blog. Browsing through the website I was overcome with excitement at the amount of sequins and glitter available! I am a self-confessed sparkle fiend! There is something about a sparkly dress or jumper that gets me feeling a little festive! This dress is particularly perfect for the upcoming Christmas party season. It's literally perfect, I couldn't wait to try it on once it arrived this morning. I find it to be really flattering on the figure as it's slightly elasticated so it clings in all of the right places. Also, the sequin detail that runs down the sleeve is unlike anything I've ever seen before. It's one of those dresses you just put on and feel a million dollars in, but will set you back at under £60! I'm now trying to coax my housemates into going out tonight just so I can wear it out!

In other news, I've started my third and final year of uni now and it's been hideously stressful. I tend to keep a lot of my illustration work separate from my fashion blogging, but if you are interested in seeing my creative work I've started to update my Tumblr here.

Ever Fallen In Love With Someone You Shouldn't Have Fallen In Love With

18 October, 2012

Sheer Lace Top*: c/o OASAP // Velvet Kimono: Minkpink via Urban Outfitters Sale (old), £30 // Bralet (worn underneath): New Look, @12 // Necklace: Matalan Sale, £2 // Pleather Leggings: New Look (REALLY old!)

This sheer, lace, asymmetrical hem dress/top was sent to me by OASAP. I love the way it's been patchworked with a patterned lace and a plain chiffon material, it really gives it a ragged, grungey feel. Ideally I'd love to team it over a black slip or a plain black bodysuit, but unfortunately my wardrobe doesn't possess either of those. Today I've just layered it with my acid wash bralet from New Look, my ancient pleather leggings I've had since I was around 16 years old and a velvet, burnout Minkpink, fringed kimono.

I only recently rediscovered this kimono and I've been wearing it with almost everything! As you can see winter's drawing nearer which means less hours of daylight in the day, which then means it's becoming more awkward to photograph my outfits. I'm contemplating getting rid of the ombré in my hair. I've already started to gradually lighten the top of my hair, so eventually it will be one colour all over and then I'm considering dying it a brighter orange all over. I'm even considering going blonde for a little bit to see if blondes do indeed have more fun...

Charity Shop Haul: Part 1

14 October, 2012

Wool Coat: £5.95 // Suede Bomber Jacket: £9.95 // Tartan Jacket: £5.95 // Dress: £3.95 // Blue Silk Shirt: 99p // Velvet Patterned Shirt: £3.25 // Aqua Silk Shirt: £2.95 // Dalmatian Jumper: £4.99 // Silk Shirt: £2.95 // Purple Metallic Shirt: £3.95

It's been a long, long time since I last posted... In fact, it's almost been a whole month! I've been living in the stone ages without Internet at my house for all this time as we decided to switch Internet providers. I almost kissed the Virgin Media man when he arrived to set it up a few days ago! I've missed blogging terribly and I have so much to catch up on!

I decided to return to blogging with a charity shop haul post as a few days ago my housemate introduced me to the wonders of a high street just outside of Southampton city centre that is literally full to the brim with charity shop upon charity shop. I didn't expect to buy as much as I did, hence the reason why I've planned to do this haul in parts as I don't want to bore you. The green wool jacket is a little oversized and I'm planning to take out the shoulder pads so I do not resemble a rugby player when I'm wearing it. The colour is gorgeous and I don't tend to have much green in my wardrobe, so I'm embracing it this winter with the help of this vibrant coat.

I've been after a tan suede jacket for a couple of years ever since I modelled one for a local vintage store and fell in love with it. Unfortunately every single one I've came across in the past has been far too big, so I jumped at the chance when I saw this 100% real leather bomber jacket on the rail for under £10! I bought the boho style, purple dress with next summer in mind... particularly for Glastonbury Festival. Is it wrong I'm clothes shopping for Glastonbury Festival already?! I'm just so, so excited!

Do I even need to explain why I bought the wonderful dalmatian jumper? I don't think so. I went a tad shirt crazy as I found so many silk and velvet blouses that would be perfect in the winter to throw over some pleather leggings. The metallic purple one is my particular favourite as it's definitely my favourite colour for this season. This is only a smidgen of what I bought, so I'll be posting the rest of my charity shopping haul soon.
