Tartan Dress*: c/o Pussycat London // Ray Ban Wayfarers*: c/o Smart Buy Glasses // Belt: Primark, £1 // Shoes: New Look, £18

Winter is well and truly at the doorstep as temperatures have dropped below zero, but a little bit of frost on the ground didn't stop me wearing my latest love that is my tartan dress from Pussycat London. I cannot even begin to explain just how happy I am with this dress. I've been looking for the perfect tartan dress for ages and I am ever so glad I waited because this one is just that! I love the skater dress shape and it's made from a soft, thick fabric that has a fleece-like texture to it that it perfectly cosy for this chilly winter weather! I've also been getting quite a lot of wear from my new Ray Ban Wayfarers that were sent to me by Smart Buy Glasses (full review soon), because although the temperatures may have plummeted the sunshine has still been blazing.

You may have seen these beautiful, beautiful boots all over my Instagram last week. I actually spent my last £18 on them a whole week before payday, but they were highly worth the struggle! New Look were offering a 25% off shoes offer and then I managed to get my 10% student discount off on top of that! I've been looking for a pair of wedges that are comfortable for everyday wear for a while and these are wonderfully comfortable. No regrets of living off of toast and reduced sandwiches for a week because I have these now gracing my tootsies!

I'm visiting my home in Essex for a couple of days after work tomorrow, which I am highly excited about! I've been feeling a little homesick over the past few weeks so although my visit will be short I'm going to enjoy the home-cooked meals, seeing my mum and cuddles with my pups! I'm also going to the Alexisonfire Farewell tour in Brixton on Sunday night. I was genuinely heartbroken when they announced their split, so I'm thankful I managed to get my paws on a ticket for one final time to see them live. I cannot wait to relive my 14 year old self! Is anyone else going?

Inkwear Dreamcatcher Tattoo

26 November, 2012

Dreamcatcher Temporary Tattoo*: c/o Inkwear Tattoos

For quite a while now, I've been contemplating a dreamcatcher tattoo in this placement below the elbow, but have had to really consider it because it would be my first tattoo that will be clearly visible. When Inkwear Tattoos contacted me and asked if I would like to review some of their temporary tattoos including this dreamcatcher one, I jumped at the chance. It meant I would be able to finally see what my potential tattoo would look like and would hopefully help me decide whether to go for it permanently. I've got to say, it's simply made me want it permanently on my arm even more so!

Inkwear Tattoos are a great way to decorate your skin if you're not fully committed to permanently inking your skin, or if in my case you want to see what a certain tattoo would look like before you take the plunge. They last between 1-5 days dependent on the placement of your tattoo and only take a mere 20 seconds to apply. That means you can squeeze a pain-free tattoo application between eating your breakfast and brushing your teeth! Simple!

Winchester Christmas Lights

24 November, 2012

Last Thursday I took a train down to Winchester in the evening to watch the Christmas street lights switch on. Winchester is such an adorable little city and it was lovely to see the high street busy with everyone in high Christmas spirits. We arrived literally just in time to watch the lights turned on and we were then treated to some on stage entertainment including a performance from The Hoosiers (yes, apparently they're still going!) and then treat ourselves to mulled cider and wine. It really has managed to get me in the festive spirit!

Hopefully these photos have managed to get you feeling as festive as I do!

A Motel Xmas @ Floripa, Shoreditch

23 November, 2012

On Monday afternoon, I jumped on a coach up to London for the Motel Rocks blogger's Christmas party that took place in the trendy tropical-themed bar, Floripa in the heart of Shoreditch. I met up with Toni from Fashion Your Seatbelts beforehand, whom I hadn't seen in far, far too long! We were greeted by the lovely Selina and the other Motel girls, who were all ever so warm and welcoming. As we were one of the first 50 guests to arrive, we were allowed to pick one item from the new collection for free! The upcoming collection itself is beautiful and perfect for the festive party season with plenty of sparkles, sequins and chiffon. I particularly fell head over heels for the Tera dress, which has a velvet bodice and a tutu skirt with patterned detail at the hem.

The whole night was lovely as we were treated to delicious, festive (but deadly) cocktails that included one delicious apple and cinnamon drink that I will be trying to recreate at home! Lee Stafford himself was also there with his team styling guest's hair. I would have loved to have had my hair done, but I was too impatient to queue and it could be said that Toni and I got a little carried away with the photobooth. You can see for yourself below:

The entire night was so much fun that I didn't get too take that many photos (a couple of these are taken from Toni and Motel!). I finally got to meet some wonderful ladies that are the brains behind the blogs I read and we were even given a big box of goodies upon our exit. I was lucky enough to get a selection of make-up from My Face Cosmetics. Thank you to Motel for a wonderful night!

Once Upon A Time

17 November, 2012

Dress*: c/o Dresses Stylist // Flower Crown*: c/o Crown & Glory giveaway

Isn't every girl's dream to feel like a princess? Well, this dress certainly makes me feel that! I can thank my latest sponsor, Dresses Stylist, for that. What is so fantastic about Ms. Dressy is that this floor length, embellished gown was specifically tailored to my measurements to ensure a perfect fit. They also offer almost every single colour you can imagine on the dress design you want, I of course opted for black (as always!). I particularly love the fishtail shape of this dress, which is unlike anything else in my wardrobe.

Now, I'll just wait on my invite to the Oscar's, so I can wear this beautiful dress...

Dress*: c/o Ravi Famous // Hat: Vintage via Charity Shop, £4 // Blouse (worn as jacket): Charity Shop, £3.50 // Collar: Dorothy Perkins, £16 // Allegra Boots: Topshop (old!), £75

So today my outfit (I think it may be mainly down to the collar and hat) reminds me of a Parisian school girl, hence the post title. If I'm ever lucky enough to be taken to Paris (*hint hint*) I'll most definitely be wearing this burgundy hat! There's a possibility my high school French language classes may or may not suddenly return to me, because thinking about it now I can only remember a few words from that 4 year education. What a waste!

Ravi Famous kindly sent over this McQueen-inspired, chiffon, skull print dress, which will only set you back a measly £20 from their website. It's a perfect day-to-day dress to throw on with a pair of ankle boots and a chunky knit or velvet jacket. Rarely a day goes by anymore when I'm not wearing velvet!

I've decided it's essential, yes essential, that I own a DSLR for the benefit of both my blog and my illustration work. As you can tell from these photos, my camera at the moment is a little rusty! However, I'm not particularly camera savvy, so I'm looking for one that's perfect for beginners and within a reasonable price bracket. If anyone has any suggestions please let me know.

Faux Fur Coat: Zara Sale (old), £23 // Fringed Bag*: c/o Brand Village // Dress: H&M via Boot Sale, £1 // Hat: New Look, £10 (old) // Necklaces: Chelsea Doll* & Camden Market

Today's outfit post is a little different from my usual posts, I decided to inject a bit of creativity and narrative. The late 60's and early 70's have always been a great inspiration into everything I do whether it be my wardrobe, my artwork, my make up, my music taste and I've even pushed my bedroom towards a Woodstock vibe. I've been told a couple of times (by older generations) that I remind them of a 60's - 70's groupie, which I've taken as a huge compliment as I'm obsessed with the likes of the Pamela De Barres, Uschi Obermaier and Sable Starr. If you were to look through my wardrobe you would see that it's mainly dominated with inspiration from the 60's-70's including lots of faux fur, paisley prints, fringing, waistcoats, floral prints, tan suedes, lace, batwing and bell sleeves. There's a growing section dedicated to my Minkpink garments which are heavily influenced by the Woodstock era.

To create my early 70's inspired look today, I've grabbed the faithful oversized, floppy hat along with this 70's inspired print, batwing dress by H&M that I picked up from a bootsale for just £1! The start of winter has also meant I've been able to dig out my fur coats (I have quite a collection!), and this faux fur, cropped one was reduced to just £23 from around £100 in the Zara sale last year! It's the favourite in my faux fur collection at the moment. This wonderful fringed bag was sent to me by Brand Village, which fits in perfectly with my 70's themed outfit today. It's a gorgeous pale grey colour, which is perfectly transferable for both the summer and winter months.

P.S. I can't actually play the ukelele! Someone teach me?

The Dog Days Are Over

Dress*: c/o Fashion Culprit // Hat: Vintage via Beatnik Emporium, £23 // Blouse: Charity Shop, £3 // Necklace: Urban Outfitters, £10 (w/ staff discount) //Satchel: Primark, £9

This adorable little black dress with heart cut out detailing was sent to me by Fashion Culprit. It's such a simple yet versatile dress, and I love how well the heart cut out works with this patterned, red, velvet blouse. I must admit, I almost feel as if I'm dressed ready for my first day back at school with the combination of the pinafore style dress and my metallic gold satchel! The fabric of this dress is so thick and comfy, which makes it perfect for the chilly winter nights that have crept up on us!

I bought this blouse a few weeks ago when I had what can only be called a 'charity shop mega haul'. I love the flocked, swirly patterning on it and the dress seems to break up the patterning nicely. All this outfit seems to be missing is a chunky, plain black, leather belt around the waist, which I don't actually own! Unbelievably, it seems I'm due for another fringe trim already as I'm struggling to see! It's only been two weeks since I got it cut back in. I suppose I should see this as a positive as it's clear that my hair is obviously growing rather quickly! Mermaid hair, you shall be mine!

Halloween Costume: It's a doll's life

06 November, 2012

Dress: Topshop Sale, £20 // Bow: D.I.Y. // Teddy: Charity Shop, £3

I thought I would share with you a few party pictures from Halloween night as I never managed to take any specific photographs of my costume. My original intention was to dress as a Mexican Day of The Dead skeleton, but after much debate in my mind I decided to opt for a living doll. I think it was mainly the excitement of trying to recreate a doll's make-up that changed my mind. After being sat in the back of my wardrobe with the tags still attached for the past few months, I managed to finally put my infamous Topshop "heart boob" dress to good use. It seemed like the perfect option for a dolly's dress. I've always been the type of person that takes fancy dress a little too seriously... If I could live in fancy dress I probably would! I'm a born escapist and daydreamer, so costume is just another way for me to be able to express that.

I started my evening at a little instore work party in where we all dressed up, drank until we were merry and ate American candycorn. Afterwards, we headed out to town in the torrential rain, which did seem to destroy my hair but thankfully I had drank enough wine by that point not to care. I'm really happy with how my make-up turned out. I used Estée Lauder's Double Maximum Foundation (which is a GODSEND) for matte dolly skin, whilst emphasising my pink blusher as much as possible. For the eyes, I lined the underneath with white eyeliner and then used two sets of false eyelashes (one on top and one on the bottom) to widen the eyes. Over the course of the night I ended up coated in more and more fake blood! Now, time to start planning for Halloween 2013...
