OOTD: Trip to the Car Boot

30 July, 2012

Sunglasses: Camden Market, £5 // Dress: Hobbs via Charity Shop, £5 // Waistcoat: £1, Boot sale // Earrings: Urban Outfitters, £6 (w/ staff discount) // Rucksack: Primark, £7 // Boots: Peacocks (old!), £10

If you've been reading my blog for a while you'll know that I'm a huge fan of charity shopping, however surprisingly I haven't been to a boot sale since I was really young! Yesterday, my housemate and me decided to take a trip to our closest boot sale to see what treasures we could find! Unfortunately by the time we got there a lot of people were packing up but we still managed to get our hands on some amazing bargains. Boot sales make charity shops look like Louis Vuitton in comparison as the prices are ridiculously cheap! I think I've been converted! I wore my Hobbs daisy print dress which I picked up in a charity shop a few months ago along with a pair of crotchet white boots I've only just recently re-discovered. I've never worn them in the past because they squeaked embarrassingly loud when I walked, but I decided to Google how to fix a squeaking shoe and was answered by the almighty search engine Gods that I should cover them in hand cream... AND IT WORKED!

Despite turning up a little late to the boot sale I managed to grab some great things including an embroidered waistcoat that's from Morocco. It was actually on a rail of child's fancy dress and came with a matching hat! The best thing is it only cost me £1! I also discovered a stall on our way out that was selling everything for just 50p and managed to get an adorable skirt and crop top matching two-piece with the tags still attached as well as a tie-dye kaftan, a blouse and a wrap around purple skirt. I've wanted a matching two-piece for so long now, and for just £1 I couldn't be happier! I also managed to pick up a absolutely huge roll of vintage floral tapestry which I intend to use to customise some bits to potentially sell on, so keep an eye out for those! The metallic horse print for my room only cost me 10p, whilst the najavo pouch was only 30p! I've got a feeling my Sunday morning trips there will become a regular thing...

WAISTE JACKETS

28 July, 2012

WAISTE JACKETS LOOKBOOK

I'm pleased to share with you that one of my all-time favourite bloggers and style crushes, Sara, has today launched her anticipated new clothing line aptly named after her blog "Waiste Clothing". I've been itching to share these Lookbook images with you for weeks as the jackets themselves are to die for! I've fallen completely head over heels in love with the floral tapestry paneled jacket (third photo down). You can tell that these jackets really epitomise and reflect Sara's own personal style with the range of bleaching, tie-dyes and studding which are common themes within her own wardrobe and it's that that makes them a little extra special as they have been crafted with such care and attention as if they were designed for her own wardrobe.

You can view the whole range and newly launched website here. On top of this, Waiste is offering free delivery across all orders this weekend!

OOTD: "You Rock Alot of Polka Dots, Jess..."

25 July, 2012

Dress*: c/o OASAP // Sunglasses: River Island Sale, £2 // Necklace: Rock N Rose, £18

I took my title inspiration today from a quote from New Girl. I was too impatient to watch alongside with the UK, so I watched the whole series online within a couple of days and now I'm counting down the days until I can buy Season One on DVD! This adorable dress was sent to me by OASAP. I usually have trouble with OASAP garments coming up a little too short on me but this dress is absolutely perfect! The under skirt is a little short but I just pop a plain black bodycon skirt underneath and it's fine! I actually own a Dahlia midi dress that is almost identical to this one, but I'm so happy I now have a short option to choose from now too!

I haven't been blogging as frequently because I'm feeling a little uninspired and I never blog unless I want to. I think it's obvious in a post when a blogger doesn't actually want to type up a post and it comes across far too forced. We all have good days and bad days, so I believe your readers will understand that. I haven't got a set out routine of blogging so if I feel like taking a break for a few days or a week I easily can. However, I woke up today and wanted to put a post up so here I am!

I hope everyone's enjoying the beautiful heatwave that's landed. I visited the Isle of Wight yesterday for the very first time with my beautiful friend Soozy and I adored it there. I'll put up a few photos soon once Soozy's uploaded hers and I can pinch a few, because she has a much fancier camera than me!

OOTD: Am I Beyonce yet?

19 July, 2012

Fringed Poncho*: House of Deréon, c/o Room 31 // Sunglasses: Primark, £1 // Necklaces: New Look & Topshop, £7 & £1.50 // Shorts: Charity Shop, £1.99 // Anklet: Claire's Accessories, 75p // Sandals: Urban Outfitters, £18 (w/ staff discount)

I don't think I've worn a poncho since the early 2000's when they suddenly had spurt into mainstream fashion and were sold everywhere for a short time. However, this is the poncho that dreams are made of! I'm certain of it. It has most definitely rebuilt my love for ponchos and I feel we need to bring them back into our wardrobes! This enchanting blue butterfly print one was sent to me from the wonderful and ever lovely Room 31 who sell an array of beautiful clothing that includes labels such as Vero Moda, Brat & Suzie, Yumi and many more. Not only that, but their customer service is wonderful and they are always throwing discount codes at you on their Twitter account so they are most definitely worth a follow! This poncho in particular is by House of Deréon, which is the clothing line of the Queen herself, Miss Beyoncé Knowles! Anyone who knows me will know I am on a one woman mission to become as cool as Queen B (who am I kidding?!) and this poncho has helped me take that one step closer.

This poncho does come with a price tag of £70, but I can honestly say it's worth every penny. It's one of the most well made items I own and feels so luxurious. Not only this, but Room 31 are offering 50% off of absolutely EVERYTHING with the discount code SALE50 so you can own this poncho for just £35! The navy cut-off shorts I'm wearing are in fact high-waisted and cost me the price of a Happy Meal from a local charity shop. They're a perfect length too as they sufficiently cover my bottom as it recently seems impossible finding a pair of shorts that covers my entire derrière. This outfit really puts me in the festival mood! If only I had one planned for this weekend.

OOTD: I Know Places We Can Go, Babe

16 July, 2012

Waistcoat: AllSaints, Present // Bralet: Minkpink via Urban Outfitters, £21 (w/ staff discount) // Skirt: Vintage via Charity Shop, £6 // Necklace: Rock N Rose, £18 // Feather Earring*: c/o Raspberry Grape // Creepers: Urban Outfitters Sale, £12 (w/ staff discount)

I managed to rearrange my room so I have a bit of blank wall space to start outfit posting once again! It's a little cramped as I've had to squeeze myself between my wardrobe and absolutely HUGE shoe rack but it's the best I can do for now. The majority of this outfit is quite old apart from my new creepers that I bought last week from work for a teeny tiny £12 from £65! I never end up wearing my Underground creepers because they're suede and I'm terrified of ruining them in this never ending monsoon we seem to be having, so I'm sure I'll be getting plenty of wear out of this leather pair. I happened to wear them to the Olympic torch ceremony and celebrations the other day in where I was ankle deep in mud, so they seem to be pretty hard-wearing.

I'm undecided on whether to keep this skirt or sell it on. I do love a maxi skirt but I can't help but feel a little frumpy in this number. It may be the pleats, but they just do not seem to be flattering at the hips. I feel like this bralet however was made for me! Velvet, cropped & Minkpink?! Could I ask for anything more?! Also the fact that it's style name is "Teenage Witch" made it even more perfect considering my obsession with Sabrina!

Photography & Styling: Bethany Norman // Hair & Make-Up: Sarah Elizabeth Howard

I thought I would share with you some photos I received the other day from a shoot I did a couple of months back for a friend. The photos were taken by the very talented Bethany Norman over at Fashion Creative, I really recommend you take a look at some of her work because it's fantastic. Considering I am one of the most self critical people in the world, I was surprised at how much I liked how these photos have turned out. They were taken on a day when the sun actually came out to play at West Wittering beach in Chichester, which is possibly the most beautiful beach I have ever seen in the UK. If we ever do eventually get a summer, I would love to go back there for a day trip. I wish I could always present my outfit photos in a style and setting as exciting as this, but for that I'd need an army of people in my cupboard to help me out!

Don't forget there's still just over a week to enter my giveaway here. There's already over 200 entries into the draw, which is completely overwhelming! Although I don't blame you all as the arty style rings are beautiful! Also, as you can see I've had a play around with my background. I'll most likely be tweaking and rearranging my layout over the next couple of weeks.

Flower Crown: D.I.Y. // Dress*: c/o Sugarlips

You'll have to excuse the unusual set up for these photos as I'm still trying to set up an outfit shooting point somewhere in my room but I'm failing miserably at finding a blank wall space. For now you'll just have to put up with me prancing around on my bed like a loser as it seems to be the only suitable place right now until I move some things around. This beautiful sheer maxi dress was sent to me by Sugarlips and I am absolutely in love with it. It would be absolutely perfect to wear as a guest at a summer wedding, but unfortunately I don't know anyone tieing the knot this year so I'll hope for a sunny day to wear it to a BBQ. Today, I teamed it with the flower crown I made at the Minkpink Party a few weeks ago, which has inspired me to start making lots of flower crowns.

I've missed the blogging world after all of the stress over the past few weeks, but now things are just perfect again. I'm settled into my new house, which I'm enjoying living in a million times more than the flat I was in before. I have so many exciting posts lined up and ideas to work with including an exciting giveaway when I hit 500 followers, which isn't far away at all!

Style Crush: Mary-Kate Olsen

06 July, 2012

*All images taken from Tumblr

This is a brand, spanking new installment to my blog in where I share with you my biggest style inspirations that will include celebrities and bloggers alike. If I were to say I have a particular style icon my first answer would undoubtedly be child actress turned fashion designer and general 'it' party girl, Mary-Kate Olsen, one-half of the well-known Olsen twins. Ever since I was a little girl who used to religiously watch 'Two Of A Kind' I've always favoured MK over Ashley. That's probably a little unfair that I favour one over the other, but she always played the 'edgier' and slightly more rebellious twin which spoke out to me a little more as I was the ultimate tomboy as a kid! I had toy cars instead of Barbies and skateboards over dolls!

I absolutely adore Mary-Kate's effortlessly grungey, unkempt image that doesn't seem to need much maintenance, which is perfect for someone as lazy as me. Her long, sandy, tousled hair in the bottom right picture is currently what I'm striving my hair towards! Luckily, I have quite a similar hair type to MK in the fact that my hair is quite fine and naturally wavy however I'm about ten inches behind my perfect hair! One thing that is pretty obvious from the photos above is that Mary-Kate tends to favour black over colour although she always tends to bring her dark outfits together with a pop of red lipstick. Another aspect of MK's style that I have always admired is her ability to casually layer her outfits, something that I'm yet to master as my attempts leave me looking like a splitting image of my overflowing laundry basket and about 2 stone heavier. MK has learnt to layer without padding out her dainty, girlish frame and always has her (to die for) legs on show from beneath the layers, which keeps her look modest but still feminine.

I apologise for my lack of blogging as of recently. As you may know I've just moved house and have a gorgeous new bedroom, so I'm currently living out of boxes and suitcases. Once I've organised my room so I can actually see the floor once again I'll be doing more outfit posts, as I'm still trying to find a place to set my tripod up.
