EVIL

21 December, 2012

Leather Jacket*: c/o Vivilli // Disco Pants*: c/o Glamorous // "Evil" Crop Top: Crafted @ Republic, £5 // Shoes: New Look, £18

A little while back I lost my faithful, faux leather, bomber jacket that was a part of my life since I was around 16 years old due someone stealing it on a night out (bitch). I was absolutely heartbroken. However, like a little fateful angel Vivilli sent me an email asking if I would like to pick one of their jackets from their collection. Of course, I went for their faux, quilted leather jacket to replace my recent loss. It works so, so well with my new wine coloured disco pants that Glamorous were kind enough to send me. These are my first pair of disco pants by Glamorous and I'm thoroughly impressed! I'm the proud owner of a purple AA pair, which cost me an arm and a leg, but I've always been dubious of buying into disco pants by other brands. Although, the Glamorous pair are not as stiff as the AA ones, making them more like leggings than trousers, this also makes them a lot more comfortable! Perfect considering how many Christmas roast dinners I'm indulging in this month!

This crop was a nice, little bargain from a Republic Outlet store that I've recently discovered. They have all of their brands in there including American Apparel at a fraction of the price! This crop reminded me of a piece that could easily fit amongst Evil Twin's collection. This is a scheduled post, so hopefully we're not in the middle of fighting an apocalypse to end the world right now! If we are, then good luck!

Carnaby Street & Winter Wonderland

20 December, 2012

Coat: Topshop (last year), £110 // Velvet Blouse: Charity Shop, £3 // Dress*: c/o Pussycat London // Creepers: Urban Outfitters Sale, £12 (w/ staff discount)

Yesterday I had one of the most wonderful days I've had in a long, long time. I started the day by catching up with Toni from Fashion Your Seatbelts for a Starbucks and wander around Carnaby Street, which is feeling lovely and festive at the moment! It's always a pleasure seeing Toni and I'm always sad to have to leave her, but hopefully by the summertime we will no longer be living in different cities! After that, I met up with some of my closest buddies from my hometown and we explored the joy of Winter Wonderland in Hyde Park in our merry and tipsy states. It was ever so much fun! It's better than it has been in previous years so if you're close to London I highly recommend you visit before it closes! I was overly impressed by the fact they had a rotating carousel bar complete with horses and mulled wine, which is something I've always wanted to experience since seeing a carousel bar on "Fear & Loathing In Las Vegas".

I was wearing my faithful, plaid Pussycat London dress once again! Unfortunately it has sold out online but they do infact have a similar tartan dress in their sale here. I'll leave you with some Instagram snaps of the day below:

Currently Coveting: Unlovable Lingerie

14 December, 2012

Now, I love pretty undies as much as the next girl, so I thought it was only fair of me to share Unlovable Lingerie, a custom handmade underwear store that sell some of the prettiest undies I've ever laid eyes on. I discovered Unlovable Lingerie a few months ago through the wonderful world of Tumblr and I had bookmarked their store with the intention of treating myself to a few pieces. However, I completely forgot about them until I rediscovered their link on my bookmarks list the other day and fell in love all over again. What's so wonderful about Unlovable Lingerie is that they custom-make all their underwear to order dependent on your size and offer a variety of colours and fabrics for each style.

Their underwear is definitely more suited to girls that are smaller on top and have no need for underwired bras. This has made them an instant favourite of mine considering it's becoming so difficult to find non-wired bras nowadays. Their pretty, feminine sets with a slight grunge twist are also a bonus!

Your guide to the ultimate winter capsule wardrobe

09 December, 2012
Rather than spending a small fortune on a completely new wardrobe this winter, shop smart and buy some vital pieces to see you through the season. The knack to this is creating a winter capsule wardrobe of essentials and key looks, and then building from there if you need to. This makes staying stylish fun yet affordable. Here’s what you should include in your capsule wardrobe.

Black jeans
Black jeans are a wardrobe staple. They’re chic, stylish and go with virtually anything. If you’re looking for versatility, go for skinny which means you’ll always have the choice of dressing them up with some heels or going ‘off-duty’ with flats. There’s a great choice of black jeans at Very.

Cable knit jumper
It might seem obvious but nothing beats a good old-fashioned cable knit jumper. Not only are they ridiculously warm, they’re also back in fashion. Wear over a fitted skirt or with jeans for a practical but on-trend look. All the big name high street brands have a great range of cable knits, so keep an eye out.

Biker jacket
A biker jacket is a great way for you to be able to stand out and alternate looks in winter months, especially when nobody gets to see what you’re wearing under your coat. Wear over jeans with chunky heels for an up-to-date look. Or channel Kate Moss and accessorise your jacket with grey denim, and a rock star boyfriend.

Ankle boots
This winter, ankle boots are the new knee-high boots. Go for a pair with chunky heels as they match well with jeans, dresses and skirts and wear them with thick socks to give definition to your ankle and, of course, to keep your toes warm!

Baby, it's cold outside

Dress: Urban Outfitters Sale, £16 (w/ staff discount)

I've been a little naughty this week and bought a few bits for myself, which is something I was hoping to resist throughout the month of December because of having to buy Christmas prezzies. However, when I saw this vintage little number staring at me from the sale section at work I could not bare to leave it behind! With it's black velvet top half and gothic carpet-like print skirt I was instantly reminded of my unlikely style icon, Sabrina Spellman. I can certainly see her rocking this with her tan leather rucksack and peep-toe flatforms around Westbridge High. All I need now is a little black cat to complete the look!

I know, I know... I need to start wearing a different necklace, but I absolutely love this one to bits. It's such a statement piece, that I feel like I don't need to accessorize any further once I'm wearing it. I'm back in Southampton now after a short break back home in Essex, which was absolutely lovely! I can't wait to return in a couple of weeks for a few days before I once again become a slave to the retail industry over the holidays. Those who work in any type of shop will understand my pain.

You know I'm no good

Dress*: c/o Zalando // Necklace: Urban Outfitters, £10 (w/ staff discount)

When Zalando contacted me to pick a sample from their website I almost jumped for joy. They stock some of my all time favourite brands including Vero Moda, Minkpink, Evil Twin, Glamorous and of course, Motel. I've wanted the blue Gothic Placement Bodycon dress ever since I first saw it on the 'New In' section of the Motel Rocks website a few months back. Unfortunately, I never did manage to get my hands on it due to my abysmal student funds. Luckily, it was available on Zalando's website as if it was fate!

I did have concerns that it would be too short as I tend to have trouble with body cons and my height (even though I'm not THAT tall). Even when I took it out of the package and examined it I was still dubious and thought I may have to wear it as a top. I was pleasantly surprised however when I pulled it on that it actually came up at a fairly decent length meaning I can in fact wear it as a dress! I absolutely love the gothic church-inspired print as it's unlike anything else I've seen. The delivery from Zalando was super speedy and efficient and even came with festive wrapping paper included in the box in case your purchase is a gift! How thoughtful!

Polaroids of Polar Bears

Top: Zara Sale (old), £9.99 // Crop Top (worn underneath): UO Sale, £7.50 (w/ staff discount) // Fringe Skirt* c/o Oh My Love // Boots: New Look, £18

So, I'm currently residing in Essex for a couple of days for a well-deserved break from Southampton. I'm actually about to head out the door to spend the night in Brixton for the Alexisonfire Farewell Tour gig (as I mentioned in my previous post). Today I was attempting to channel the MK Olsen vibe with layering lots of different black fabrics. I was sent this fringed mini skirt by one of my favourite online stores, Oh My Love. I wanted to style the skirt in a non-obvious way, so I threw this woven top over it so the fringing would just peak through. I love absolutely anything with fringing and this skirt is no exception. You can never have too much fringing in your wardrobe in my opinion!

Sorry it's a bit of a short post, but I'm heading out the door in literally two minutes!
