O U T F I T | She's Got You High

20 August, 2013

Jumspuit*: c/o AX Paris // Fringe Top: Zara, £5 // Necklaces*: c/o Wolftress, River Island & Market // Shoes: Vintage via Urban Outfitters, £24

This incredible full length, ethnic inspired jumpsuit was sent to me by AX Paris. I'm only a little gutted that I didn't have it in time for Glastonbury Festival earlier this summer. It's perfectly lightweight for the summer season, which means although the weather is warm it's still cool enough to wear. Today however I layered it up with this Zara sale purchase I managed to gets my paws on last year. It was such an amazing little find that I also got it in white!

Day in, day out I'm wearing my faith vintage shoes find from Urban Outfitters. They just go with absolutely everything I wear and make every outfit a little less feminine. The pink feather and fringe necklace is an old River Island little number. Despite the fact I'm not very taken with River Island as a shop they always have a huge range of boho inspired necklaces, which have me pretty much cooing. This is my last day off before I go through a 7-days in a row marathon at work. Wish me luck!

D E N I M | Jeanography's First Time Fit

17 August, 2013

Jeans*: c/o Jeanography

Buying jeans is one of my worst nightmares. In fact, I actually avoid it at all costs and own a limited number of jeans always opting for shorts, skirts or dresses instead. My phobia of shopping for jeans stems from my awkward figure. Unfortunately I wasn't blessed with a perfectly proportioned body. Instead, I have the annoyance of a rather small waist paired with fuller hips and bottom meaning trouser shopping can prove almost impossible. Trying to find a pair of jeans that fit on the high street is enough of a long-winded mission that I never, ever even contemplate shopping for jeans online because I always know more than likely they will not fit.

Designer denim specialist, Jeanography however understand that women come in all shapes and sizes, and shopping for a perfect fit pair of jeans can be stressful. To solve this denim conundrum they offer a 'First Time Fit' service on all of their products. You can select up to three pairs of jeans to be sent to the comfort of your home free of charge to try on before you commit to buying. I chose to try the True Religion Halle High Rise Super Skinny in Black, the James Jeans Twiggy Mid Rise Legging in Slate and the James Jeans Hunter High Rise Straight Leg in Black Clean. Shortly after ordering for my 'First Time Fit' with Jeanography I received a phone call from a personal stylist, Liz, who talked me through my order and made several amendments to it. Being a typical woman, I always overcompensate for my size in jeans and found out through Liz's advice I had ordered several sizes too large. She corrected this straight away and made sure I was sent more suitable sizes. Sizing is always dependent on the brand of denim, so it's promising to know and trust the advice of a stylist that knows the brand well rather than taking a guess.

My jeans arrived swiftly the next day by courier, well packaged and with a little free sample of nail polish which was a pleasant surprise. After trying all three pairs on, I decided to keep the James Twiggy Legging Jeans in Slate as they fit like a glove and I adore the soft touch feel to them. They're very much a higher quality version of Leigh jeans from Topshop. After you've decided on your perfect pair of jeans it's simple enough to organise a free collection to send your unwanted jeans back to Jeanography. I cannot recommend Jeanography enough as their service certainly goes beyond the call of duty to make sure you get the perfect fit.

O U T F I T | 501's

12 August, 2013

Headband: River Island, £4 | Kimono: Minkpink via Urban Outiftters (old), £30 | Top: Topshop (old), £10 | Levi's 501's: Brag Vintage | Shoes: Vintage via Urban Outiftters, £24 | Bag: Primark (old), £3

As those who work in retail may know to have a whole entire weekend off is about as sadly impossible as finding a unicorn. However, this weekend I was lucky enough to be granted this rarity and my mum came to visit me in Southampton for the weekend. She happens to be quite the ideal outfit snap photographer and I wish I could keep her with me all the time. On the Saturday I took her to see one of my favourite parts of the city in the Old Town, which is steeped in history with it's cobble stone streets, castle ruins, museums and quaint Tudor-era pubs. I've wanted a perfect pair of Levi's 501 jeans for a while now and Brag Vintage have supplied the perfect light blue pair. Buying vintage items online is always a risk as you can never be certain just what condition the item is going to be in, however these jeans are most definitely 'Grade A' vintage with almost no sign of wear to them whatsoever. When it comes to jeans, I've always been a strictly skinnies girl, however I love the baggier shape of the 501's which are certainly more comfortable than the rest of my skin tight jean collection. They even got me through the biggest fry-up breakfast without any discomfort! I definitely wouldn't hesitate ordering from Brag Vintage again as I'm convinced all of their vintage goodies will be in perfect condition if they're anything like these jeans.

I'm still wearing these 'pretty ugly' cut-out vintage shoes almost everyday. I can't believe how lucky I was to spot them in the vintage section and that they were actually in my size! Although they have pretty much disfigured the back of my left heel with blisters, they have been sorely worth it. I've received a ton of compliments on this sequin-embellished, gypsy-style headband which was surprisingly from River Island. I'm not River Island's biggest fan, so this little sale find was a pleasant surprise. Although my weekend off was wonderful, it's back to reality for me now for a little while.

S P O T L I G H T | Lolita Shoes

09 August, 2013

I cannot even remember the last time I was this impatient for a shop launch but I've been counting down the minutes for the opening of Lolita Shoes. Founded by the ever-talented Meg Lea, Lolita offers a range of the most incredible vegan friendly, chunky platformed, 90's style shoes, which in my opinion are the best kind of shoes. The shoe collection follows a strict uniform of monochrome shades and thick soles. They resemble similar Vagabond styles, but are guaranteed to be vegan-friendly as well as being a fraction of the price with the most expensive pair being just £27.

I've picked out a few of my favourite pairs above, but I can honestly say I would happily wear every pair that Lolita has to offer. The highly anticipated website launch goes live today at 6pm, so have your purses at the ready! You can shop the entire collection here.

O U T F I T | Atrocity Exhibition

07 August, 2013

Top: Urban Outfitters, £6 | Skirt: Urban Outfitters, £10 | Necklace: Matalan, £2 | Socks: Primark, £2 | Shoes: Urban Outfitters, £24

I've finally been reunited with the beloved internet at my house so I am blogging on a regular basis once again as well as catching up on all of my favourite reading material across the web. In the absence of the internet my boredom got the better of me and I've lightened my hair to blonde and finally acquired a nose piercing. I'm ever so impatient for it to heal though, so I can change it to a ring! You can partially see part of my new bedroom, which I'm absolutely in love with as it's the size of a small studio apartment.

This is an almost entirely Urban Outfitters outfit, however it's all relatively old. This skater skirt combines two of my ultimate favourite things: velvet & paisley. It's the perfect creation. These chunky, cut-out shoes were from the vintage renewal section and they are certainly shoes my mum would be proud of. When I was a kid she would forever try and persuade me to get 'sensible', chunky, buckled school shoes which I always turned my nose up at. Now I'm wearing them by choice! This particular pair are from the 70's and resemble a Vagabond style that I was lusting after. These were a much, much cheaper price though.

S T Y L E | Dress Spy Outfits

05 August, 2013

Compiling and styling outfits with clothes I don't own but desperately wished I owned is one of my favourite past times. I've been spending a lot of my time recently doing this on a new website called Dress Spy, which allows you to collage custom outfits and share them with your friends. However, Dress Spy isn't just a one trick pony and offers many more services other than creating outfits. It's a whole fashion dedicated network in where you can catch up on celebrity & fashion gossip, be updated on upcoming fashion trends and forecasts, have help by industry professionals in what to wear to that upcoming event you've had planned and on top of this receive discount at the likes of Miss Selfridge, Mango, Bottica and more! If you do sign up then don't hesitate to add me as a friend on my profile here.

OUTFIT ONE.| I simply adore this monochrome, paisley print, babydoll dress that is perfectly suited for a casual festival look when teamed with this khaki contrast parka and some leather ankle boots. An outfit like this has me longing for Glastonbury once again!

OUTFIT TWO.| How dreamy is this beautiful, bohemian style, white maxi dress. It's ideal for dreaming of a blazing summer's day in California in 1969. I decided to team it with this tapestry shoulder bag and western style, tan ankle boots for that Woodstock vibe.

OUTFIT THREE.| This is the most garish of my outfit combinations, but I think it may just be my favourite for that reason. I am certainly in love with this tapestry cardigan, which would be perfect for the upcoming autumn season. The distressed striped jumper is just so unusual and looks perfect with the tie-dye, high-waisted shorts.
