S P O T L I G H T | Sony Xperia x Fashion
London Fashion Week is fast approaching... 23 days away to be precise. Not that I'm counting or drastically planning my outfits weeks in advance. Last London Fashion Week although I took my little Lumix camera, I actually took the majority of my photos on my simple little iPhone. I no longer believe it's necessary to chug a huge DSLR along to get a perfect shot. It's just as possible to capture a perfect shot or video on your smartphone and let's face it, it's a lot more convenient to carry!
I adore fashion films as there's something a little more beautiful about seeing the garments in motion and mixed into a narrative rather than being seen in a still image. Through film you can admire the garment from every angle and appreciate the way the fabric sits and moves when being worn. Sony have created this fashion film using 100 of their Xperia Smartphones rigged up in a spiral to capture this catwalk at every angle in high definition. The image is crisp, clear and you wouldn't know any differently if this was filmed on a professional camera or smartphone. Although I was worrying a little about not having a fancy DSLR again for fashion week and embarrassingly pulling out my phone to take snaps, this short film has convinced me that phone technology and camera quality nowadays is not to be sneered at. Not only this, but the smartphone also has the convenience to instantly upload an image to any social networking site or blog, unlike a DSLR. Just be prepared for the onload of smartphone snaps I'll be sharing live from fashion week in September!
