O U T F I T | Double Florals

29 September, 2013

Top*: c/o Choies
Shorts: Primark (old), £2
Glasses: Camden Market, £5
Shoes: Topshop Sale, £10
Necklace*: c/o John Greed

Although I am a self-confessed lover of the taboo that is double denim, it is strictly frowned upon. But what's the rule with double florals? When I was sent this Supreme style, unisex, graphic floral top from Choies I must admit I was a little baffled about how to style it. It is far from something I would usually wear and the graphic print is so bold. I could have played it safe and worn it with a pair of grey or black skinny jeans, but I decided to brave mixing up clashing floral prints with these atrociously old culottes from a Primark sale years ago. Even now I'm still not sure it works. It could be one of those outfit I look back on in a few months and think "WERE YOU BLIND, LEIGH?". I'm not sure. However, the t-shirt itself is a lovely soft material and the print is divine. Afterall, who doesn't love a graphic floral print?!

After dying my hair brunette it's faded back to ginger. I think it's time to accept I'll never be able to leave my ginger hair behind and it's here to stay.

O U T F I T | Players Only Love You When They're Playing

25 September, 2013

Dress*: Oh My Love c/o Meemee
Hat: H&M, £12.99
Belt: New Look, £2.99
Boots: Topshop, £75
Bracelets*: c/o John Greed

Working full-time has meant I'm finding it pretty difficult to find the time to take outfit posts, hence the reason why they've slowed down. However, I couldn't wait to show you this grungy, sheer midi dress by Oh My Love that was sent to me by one of my favourite online retailers Meemee. It features gold poppers all the way to the bottom and a completely sheer top half. It's perfect for winter and I'll be throwing little thick-knit, cropped jumpers over the top to make it a bit more suitable for the colder weather!

I was also recently sent some jewellery by online jewellery retailer John Greed including this elephant charm bracelet and wrap-around feather charm bracelet. John Greed have a huge range of affordable little treasures on their website and includes brands such as Pandora, Swarovski & Daisy London. I currently have my sights set on these beautiful pair of daisy stud earrings.

W I S H L I S T | Winter Wants

18 September, 2013

1. Topshop Coat
2. East Crushed Velvet Bag
3. Phase Eight Embroidered Dress
4. Sakroots iPhone case
5. Dr. Marten's Serena White Boots
6. River Island Tapestry Headband

It's inevitable that winter is creeping right around the corner and I for one am quite excited. I love nothing more than fresh, crisp, winter's evenings wrapped up from head to to toe in a faux fur jacket and wooly hat and the mornings snuggled beneath the warmth and weight of my duvet with an electric blanket on. Also, not to mention Christmas! I absolutely adore Christmas, particularly the anticipation before when everyone is in high spirits. Of course, the change in weather means a change in wardrobe. The crop tops and sandals must go away until next year and is instead replaced with thick, heavy jackets and rain resistant ankle boots. I've had my eye on a few things to get me through the winter months including this beautiful, Penny Lane (Almost Famous) inspired fur collar jacket from Topshop. Striking coats are jackets are my all time weakness and I have more than I can ever possibly wear but I want this one in my collection this season!

The winter months also brings the party season with the likes of Christmas and New Year. This means dressing up is essential, so pretty dresses are never eliminated from my wardrobe due to the cold weather. This folksy-style Phase Eight Embroidered Dress is perfect for both the daytime paired with some thicker tights and boots and the evening with a kimono thrown over the top. I desperately want a crushed velvet shopper bag and this velvet number from East is just perfect. I've already got a steady Dr. Marten's collection on the go, but I've been coveting a Serena sheepskin pair every winter. This year I discovered this particular white pair of Dr. Marten's boots, which have stolen my heart. Let's just hope Father Christmas manages to read this post!

O U T F I T | London Fashion Week SS14 Day #4

17 September, 2013

Fedora Hat: H&M, £12.99
Kimono: Minkpink via Urban Outfitters, £30
Bodysuit (worn underneath): New Look, £6.99
Trousers: Topshop Unique (old)
Boots: Topshop, £75
Bag: eBay (similar here)
Necklaces: Wolftress & Market Stalls
Bracelets: Primark & Topshop
Belt: Urban Renewal, £5

Here's a few photos taken by the lovely Helena of what I wore yesterday to Somerset House when I ventured down there to snap some street style shots. This season I had to make do with what I already had in my wardrobe as I just have not had the money to spend on clothes unfortunately. These super old (and by super old I mean maybe circa 2009) Topshop Unique trousers have always been gathering dust in the back of my wardrobe. They're a bit garish for day-to-day life and they're also a little big on my waist, so they've never been worn. I like to call them my 'fish trousers' because I cannot help but think I resemble a giant fish or sea creature when wearing them. However, I made the brash decision to let them see a little daylight and secure the baggy waistband with a vintage belt.

Despite the trousers being rather glitzy I still wanted to dress them down and create an early 70's vibe, so I threw over this trusty Minkpink kimono and H&M fedora hat. As I'm down in London for the week I'm practically living directly out of a suitcase so I really did not have too much to choose from. I've been a little quiet on the blogging front recently due to a confidence crisis, which is something every twenty-something female suffers from time-to-time. Taking my own photo and posting it on the internet has been the very last thing I wanted to do whilst I felt like this. One of the main reasons for this is because I destroyed my hair in the process of trying to make it lilac and failing. I went from ginger to platinum blonde to peach to lilac to pink to bright orange to brunette within the space of just three weeks. There is honestly nothing worse than looking in the mirror and despising your own hair. Thankfully now I'm content with my hair as an auburn brunette and I'm going to give the dying a little break to let my hair recover. I still need it cut before I'm totally happy with it, but for now I'm content.

I've decided to stay home today rather than return to Somerset House in favour of eating as much food as possible before having to return to my desolate and depressing food cupboards in my student house in Southampton. Good choice, don't you think?

London Fashion Week SS14 Street Style

16 September, 2013

I've been stuck in a blogging rut recently, so in order to try and force myself out of it I travelled up to Somerset House to do some street style snapping of those in the courtyard. Unfortunately, like typical London weather the heavens opened with hailstones and we were all forced to find shelter on several occasions, but the atrocious weather did not stop London's best dressed hitting the cobble stones of the courtyard. Although Somerset House seemed emptier than previous seasons there was still that certain buzz in the air.

Today I bumped into some of my favourite blogging beauties including Helena, Sara, Clare, Chelsea & Lauren and you can see some of their outfits featured above. I'm still toying with the idea of heading back to Somerset House tomorrow to street style snap some more. Has anyone else been to Somerset House this season?

S P O T L I G H T | Iconemesis iPhone 4S case

05 September, 2013

iPhone 4S Case*: c/o Iconemesis

Although I hate to admit it I cannot live without my iPhone 4S by my side. I've come to depend on it like an extra limb. I detest the thought of being tied to technology, but my iPhone is just so convenient in keeping up with the world whilst on the move. Obviously part of the fun of having an iPhone is easily interchangable covers that protect your phone as well as giving it a little more character. I was thrilled when iPhone cover company, Iconemesis contacted me to review one of their cute and quirky cases. I chose this Coffee Collection by Lily X illustrated case, which emphasizes my addiction love of good coffee.

Iconemesis offer a range of unique, adorable cases suited to iPhones that feature the designs of a range of illustrators including Gemma Correll, Pomme Chan & Sacha Kreeger. Since the designs are mainly focused on the work of illustrators, the cases are a little different to those you may find on the high street. I've received a lot of compliments on mine since using it and it matches my Starbucks mug perfectly!
