R E V I E W | Fossil Travel Bags from Bagable

29 November, 2013

Travel bags (x3)*: Fossil c/o Bagable

You may or may not know but I'm actually as illustrator as well as my day job. In fact I'm going back to university to complete my degree in the New Year, which I'm thoroughly excited about. When online bag retailer, Bagable contacted me to review one of their products I was automatically drawn to this set of printed pouches by Fossil. I automatically knew they would be perfect for separating my art materials in my bag for when sketching when I'm travelling. They come in three separate sizes, which is ideal for sectioning my pens, pencils and paints as well as other utensils I may need when I'm out and about. Of course, these pouches can be used for other necessities rather than stationery including toiletries, hair accessories or make-up. They also have a plastic coating, which leads me to believe they're rainproof too, which could be handy considering the weather at the moment. The pouches come in a variety of different patterns, but I opted for the 'Blue Multi' design as the pattern on the navy pouches reminded me of pencil sharpenings which is relevant to what I'm using the pouches for!

R E V I E W | Piecekeeper with OnePiece

27 November, 2013

OnePiece Onesie*: c/o OnePiece

You may have already heard of Norwegian brand, OnePiece. I, for one, have been lusting after one of their onesies for years but haven't been able to justify spending the money on one. You can only imagine how happy I was when OnePiece invited me to become a 'Piecekeeper' for them and getting to choose my very own OnePiece from their range. If you haven't heard of OnePiece before then let me get you up to speed. One day three hungover Norwegians came up with the genius idea of the perfect lazy day outfit: the onesie. If you know from my almost weekly Sunday moanings on my twitter account I am hungover more often than not and I can certainly emphasise with idea of wanting to just be as comfortable as possible.

Initially I was tempted by their more traditional fairisle jumpsuit designs, but I am a sucker for anything Christmassy, so I chose the grey all-over Lillehammer print. I know a lot of people are skeptical that a onesie's just a onesie, right? OnePiece may be a bit pricier than other all-in-one loungewear, but I'm not even exaggerating when I tell you I've worn my every single day since receiving it. After work I'll make myself a cup of tea, crawl into my OnePiece and throw on an episode of New Girl or curl up with a book. All of my other onesies (including my fox Kigu!) have been disregarded and thrown to the back of the wardrobe. As the OnePiece is fleece lined it manages to keep me comfortably warm, which has been important on a student budget and a refusal to switch the house's heating on as of yet! Also, if you're contemplating investing in your own OnePiece or thinking about buying one as a present for someone this Christmas I've got an exclusive code for you which entitles you to 20% off of your purchase! Just use the code 31FOXANDFEATHERBLOG, but hurry because the code is only valid until the 1st December!

Piece out!

E V E N T | #MOTELROCKSTHEPARTY

24 November, 2013

Last week I attended the annual Motel Blogger's Christmas party avec the beautiful Toni and Chelsea, which could be followed with the #MOTELROCKSTHEPARTY hashtag on Twitter and Instagram. It was held in the prestigious Ink London, Professor Green's new club at Number One Leicester Square. Motel certainly know how to throw a party and I was impressed to say this year was even better than last year's party. On arrival we were taken into a graffiti-covered lift which carried us up several flights into an urban-inspired lounge bar. Ink London has really nailed the East End vibe and brought it to to the upper class West End with a decor inspired largely by street art and tattoos. Motel were showcasing several of their latest collections which included lots of glitz and sequins in typical Motel fashion as well as slip-shaped evening dresses and some PVC numbers.

As well as a preview of their newer collections we were treated manicures by Illustrated Nail and hair chalking (as you can mine and Toni's looks in the photo above) by the Urban Fudge team. I had my hair chalked white and I actually loved having white hair so much that I'm now itching to make it permanent.

For someone who usually opts for black, recently I've been drawn to white co-ords (or cream in this case) outfits whilst being incredibly inspired by the outfits of Ivania from Love Aesthetics. I wore my fur gillet which was featured in my last outfit post and a lace smock dress that I recently picked up in H&M for £2! £2!!! You can't even buy a McDonald's meal for that! The beautiful suede, faux fur cuffed coat is vintage and was my Nan's. It fits like a glove an I adore it so much it's my current favourite coat. Visiting London has made me ever so excited for Christmas! Who else is counting down the days?

G I V E A W A Y | Win a Beara Beara Bag

14 November, 2013

I've teamed up with leather bag specialists Beara Beara to host a giveaway to win one of their beautiful leather and suede Juanita bags, which can be seen in the image above. I'm actually rather jealous of whoever wins this bag because I adore every bag Beara Beara has to offer. Here's a little snippet of their mission statement which makes you fall in love with the brand a little more:

‘Beara Beara’ creates bags for those who we have not yet met. But we sit and imagine who you may be. What secrets you have, what makes you smile, what makes you sigh. We sit at our messy desks and rummage through materials and shapes and patterns. We play. We play with our ideas. What will make your life a little brighter? We ignore the chaos in the street, the technology, the worries of life. We create something new. Every month we go home with our wages to give to our landlords and government and banks but still feel quite content. We like making strangers smile.

The giveaway will run for two weeks and you can enter via the Rafflecopter widget below by following all the mandatory steps and can earn extra entries with the additional steps! The prize is for the Juanita Leather Handbag in Black which you can view here. Good luck!

I N S P I R A T I O N | Festive Fashion

12 November, 2013

Festive fashion is one of the most adventurous times to play with your wardrobe. After all you can run tinsel and glitter through your hair and no one will batter an eyelid! This is something I wish was acceptable all year round! I know it's only mid-November but I am in fact a self-confessed Christmas lover and admirer. As soon as it hit midnight on November I played my first Christmas album and I squealed aloud when I saw the Christmas German market being built in town earlier this week. I love it! I possibly think I appreciate the time now more than when I was a kid. I adore the way people are so much cheerier than the usual; just the way the majority of the world is excited and counting down for just one special day.

Of course the season calls for the traditional novelty jumper and matching family pyjama sets, but festive fashion stretches beyond the ugly sweaters and fair isle slipper socks. Think sparkles, tartan scarves, velveteen trousers and knee-high boots. I've been scouring lookbooks high and low for some Christmassy inspiration when it comes to my outfits over the next couple of months. I tend to look towards British style icons like the gorgeous Sienna Miller when it comes to winter clothing as they know how to dress appropriately for our unfortunate weather. I've got a fair few festive activities coming up over the next month or so, which creates an excuse for shopping. I'm on the lookout for festive co-ords or luxe, embellished party dresses for Christmassy evenings out. Also at the top of my list is a fluffy jumper, knee-high black suede boots and a faux fur pure white coat. A girl can dream...

Missguided Peace + Love Preview

11 November, 2013

All images taken from Missguided's Peace + Love campaign

Earlier today I received an email from the lovely Robyn who has recently left Hampshire for the bright lights of Manchester for a new career at Missguided. Included in the email was a sneak preview of Missguided's autumn-winter Peace + Love lookbook campaign. Missguided have come along in leaps and bounds since their beginning; with every collection they grow stronger. This particular collection is strictly monochrome and retains strong silhouettes, which is reminiscent of post-modernistic shapes. Missguided have played on the stern outlines of their garments in their Lookbook images by playing focus on the shadows of the models. The entire collection is almost rather futuristic and the cyber-punk edge meant I couldn't help be reminded of one of my all time favourite films, Blade Runner, which has one of the most magnificent costume collections I've ever seen in a movie. Also, dare I say it but I find the collection a little on the Miley Cyrus side, which isn't a problem for me. I happen to secretly love Miley (sorry, not sorry).

I've picked a few of my favourites from the Missguided Peace+ Love collection below. What do you think? Are you as drawn to it as me? You can preview the rest of the collection here.

O U T F I T | Faux Fur & Velvet

09 November, 2013

Fur gilet: Primark, £18
Velvet top: Charity shop, £4
Necklace*: c/o Wolftress
Shoes: Vintage via Urban Outfitters, £24

Saturdays off of work are a rarity when you work in retail as anyone who happens to work in a shop will tell you. I however managed to score this particular Saturday off which means I've been able to spend the day doing exactly what I please (which hasn't been too much I must admit). I did however muster up the energy to do a little outfit post. I've wanted a white fur gilet since seeing Sara rock hers time and time again! They're just so versatile and easy to throw over any outfit. I saw this lone one in my local Primark a few weeks ago one evening after work and left it behind after the sheer frustration of not being able to find a full-length mirror (Primark Southampton is currently undergoing construction so it's an absolute mirror-less maze). However, I spent that evening stewing that I hadn't picked it up and prayed that it was still there the next morning. Thankfully it was and I nabbed it for £18. Although I'm a little bitter at paying almost £20 for a single item in Primark (YES I AM A CHEAPSKATE), in comparison to the prices of Topshop's fur gilets it's a steal!

I have such an issue with anything velvet; a very large percentage of my wardrobe is velvet. I just can't get enough of it. I cannot control my hands reaching towards that one extra velvet or velour blouse I find in a charity shop. It's like an addiction or serious hoarding problem. This particular witchy, black velvet number is the perfect oversize for comfort and length to be just about long enough. I always tend to favour a short hemline with tights in the winter time, because I've never been much of a jeans or trouser person. Fur and velvet are two of my favourite autumn-winter textures so I plan to be combining them time and time again this coming season.

W I S H L I S T | Baby, it's cold outside

07 November, 2013

I'm not sure of the exact moment it happened but the weather has plummeted to bitterly cold temperatures during this transition into winter. At night I'm finding myself sleeping in jumpers and socks in my stubborn refusal to turn on the heating (oh student living!). Of course the colder weather means reconsidering your wardrobe all together swapping the sunnies for scarves and the shorts for sweaters. Despite the need to be practical with your outfit choices in this frosty season, you can still certainly be on trend. If anything I love winter clothing so much more than summer clothing. The layering, the accessories, the boots and do not get me started on my love of jackets. I think I have more jackets and coats compared to any other garment in my wardrobe!

In particular, New Look have got some great little winter numbers. I am continuously lusting after mohair jackets at the moment and will not be content until I have one in my grubby little paws. This beautiful cream boyfriend coat is ideal and would go with almost any winter time outfit. An alternative and practical option to the boyfriend jacket is the classic, hooded parka jacket, which is definitely more appropriate with the unpredictable rain we seem to suffer from. I've come to depend on beanies nowadays to cover up the days I feel too lazy to do anything with my hair, which is most days, let's face it! The velvet swing dress may look a little skimpy for the winter, but velvet is definitely the fabric of this season. It would be perfect for a party or layered over a polo neck top for a daytime look.

E V E N T | AX Party & Watch Warehouse

05 November, 2013

A couple of weeks ago I jumped on a train to London to attend the AX Paris Blogger Party in where we were treated to an evening of cabaret and burlesque performances at the swanky, underground club Proud Cabaret, which was featured in last season's Made In Chelsea! I had never been to a burlesque show before although I've always wanted to, and I absolutely loved it. The retro-inspired performers were so sassy and beautiful knowing exactly how to work the crowd. I spent the evening with fellow bloggers Toni, Sara, Chelsea, Laura, Clare & Deb in our own front row booth. It was an extra special night in where we were delivered a never ending stream of cocktails, canapes, had a free-for-all pick n' mix and was shown a special preview of the new collection and TV advert featuring Britain & Ireland's Next Top Model winner, Jade Thompson. Annoyingly I forgot my camera, but managed to capture some of the night on my phone before it tragically ran out of battery! You can shop the full AX Paris collection here. I managed to compose a little montage video of the performances using a new app called VideofyMe, which you can view below!

Earlier that evening I attended the Watch Warehouse Party Preview of their SS14 collection. I must admit I haven't worn a watch since I was about 10 years old. In fact the last watch that ever graced my wrist had a picture of the one and only Tigger on it's face. However, I think the Watch Warehouse preview has indeed tempted me into acquiring a timepiece for my wrist once more (maybe one without the Tigger addition). I was particularly taken my a Timex animal printed strap watch and of course I will always, always be lusting after a rose gold Michael Kors.
