W I S H L I S T | Olivia Burton Watches

29 April, 2014

Jump back six months ago I had not worn a watch on my wrist since the elasticated one with a Tigger motif on the face had graced my wrist at around 10 years old. Watches had never interested me. After all, they were just another expensive item of jewellery for me to lose, which happens more often than not. Then at Christmas I was given a Michael Kors rose gold, oversized chronograph watch which has not left my wrist since December. Surprisingly, I've looked after it well without losing it too!

Olivia Burton watches actually happened to catch my attention back in December as their delicate, feminine, vintage-inspired designs won my heart. They have a variety of very traditional, British-influenced watches with a selection of unique designs. What I've come to associate most with Olivia Burton designs is their animal and butterfly motifs that feature on a few of their watches faces. I feel as the brand grow this will become such a cult image for them making them easily distinguishable against other time pieces! I've picked out a few of my favourite designs above. Everyone know I cannot resist a paisley print and the paisley watch face gives it a 70's vibe, whilst not being too garish. OB watches also offer a lot of rose gold options, which happens to be my favourite metal concerning jewellery. Their oversized dial, mink and rose gold number is a little more classic (second top row), however my ultimate favourite has the be the rose gold and powder blue (second bottom row) as powder blue is my favourite shade this season. Also, there's just something perfect about the combination of a dusty blue and rose gold; they sit together gorgeously.

What do you think of Olivia Burton watches?

O U T F I T | 'From Day To Night' with DUO Boots

27 April, 2014

Hat: H&M
Jacket: Zara (old)
Dress: Waiste
Necklace: Waiste
Rucksack: Gift
Watch: Michael Kors
Boots*: c/o DUO Boots (available here)

This is my second look for DUO Boots' style competition in where I have conjured up an outfit around these, beautiful, beautiful boots. Such a divine specimen of a shoe! When it comes to an evening look, I'm not really one to overly dress to the nines! This is mainly due to the fact my ideal evening are either spent at a gig or down the pub, so I'll just throw on a dress and my trusty black, fedora hat. This particular dress was ordered from Sara's little treasure trove Waiste. Usually with vintage websites I'm consistently heartbroken to see certain dresses I want are sold out, but I snapped up this one pretty much as soon as it hit the 'New In' section a couple of weekends back. Why don't you have a browse through Waiste's 'New In' to see if you can find any vintage numbers to add to your wardrobe?

The vintage, leather rucksack was a belated birthday gift from my best pal and I adore it. It's such a classic and durable design that I can see myself keeping for the rest of my life! I'm a little down in the dumps today as it was the re-sale of Glastonbury tickets and after I missed out the first time I'm now not in the financial position to go as student finance have royally messed up. It's the first year since 2010 that I've not been able to go, which is oh so heartbreaking. Therefore on the last weekend of June I intend to stay in a tent in my back garden with my face covered in glitter drinking several crates of cider so I can at least imagine I'm there. That's practically the same, right?

V I D E O | Shoe Collection

24 April, 2014

After a month's delay I'm back with a second YouTube video, but this time it's all about shoes! I hate to be such a typical girl, but I just absolutely love shoes. They're scattered all over my room and I have more than I'll ever wear! I've even bought another pair since I filmed this that haven't featured in the video! I didn't have the time or the patience to film all of my shoes, because I just have too many #firstworldproblems. I actually did a shoe collection post a few years back so there are some pairs of shoes that even crop back up such as my DM's and Jeffrey Campbells.

Let me know if you have any suggestions for future videos! Remember to subscribe to my channel.

S P O T L I G H T | Sassy World

23 April, 2014

ALL IMAGES FROM THE SASSY WORLD LOOKBOOK

Brand new, online vintage shop, Sassy World, is the vibrant and expressive creation of Southsea based blogger babe, Helena of Bell's Fashion. Ever since Helena stepped onto the blogging scene I've been envious of her effortless flair to pull off the most colourful and extravagant items. She has the most enviable ability to style lairy, vivid colours and bold, abstract prints into the most wonderful 90's inspired combinations. Imagine True Romance meets Ghost World crossed with Romy & Michelle's High School Reunion with a bit of Clueless sprinkled on top. Dreamy, right?

When she announced she was launching her own online vintage website with pieces hand-picked that reflect her own style I knew it was bound to be something magical. An array of rainbow platform shoes, neon faux furs, rose tinted glasses and a never ending amount of glitter! Also, just how incredible are these shoe pom poms? There tends to be an association of vintage with old lady tea dresses and shoulder pads, lots of unwearable shoulder pads! However, Helena's careful selection shows just how fun and colourful vintage can be!

In Sassy World's mission statement she proclaims that she wanted to 'create a highly visual online presence (a very Sassy one) where girls can escape into a vibrant, girl power fuelled world, where they can feel inspired to have more fun with fashion' and that it is her aim to 'not only encourage females to wear more sustainable, unique items of clothing, but to also empower them and give them the confidence to wear whatever they want'. I cannot agree more with how much I agree with her concept and it is truly inspiring. After all, why should fashion being so regimented. Sassy World is pushing the boundaries and making fashion more fun!

W I S H L I S T | Chicwish NEW IN

21 April, 2014

ALL FROM CHICWISH 'NEW ARRIVALS'

There's just so much over in Chicwish's 'New Arrivals' section that I couldn't just compose one wishlist, but had to make two! There's a whole feast of delicious treats for pretty darn good prices over on their website. I found it hard to wittle it down to just these few choices in fact. If you hadn't gathered I'm a bit taken by the colour white at the moment.

Who said a white, lace dress was just for your wedding day?! Definitely not in my opinion. If you're after a cheaper option that similar to Free People or Spell & Gypsy's floaty, bohemian dresses then Chicwish should be your first stop. They definitely cater for any free-spirited, festival damsel.

O U T F I T | I'm With Dreamy

19 April, 2014

T-Shirt & Tote Bag*: c/o Wildfox Couture
Crochet Cardigan: Charity Shop, £4
Shorts: ASOS (available here)
Boots*: c/o DUO Boots (available here)
Sunglasses: Primark
Watch: Michael Kors (similar here)

This month I was asked to take part in a style competition called 'From Day To Night' set by online boot retailer,
DUO Boots who have a vast selection of incredible foot candy (is that even a term?! Well it is now!). Basically if I win I get a £250 voucher to spend on their website. DREAM COME TRUE. The challenge was to style up a pair of boots or shoes from their website for a daytime and an evening look. I've wanted a pair of knee-high, tan, suede boots for quite a while so without any hesitation I picked these beautiful Anata boots. For my daytime look I teamed them with this amazing t-shirt from Wildfox Couture. Now I've got to admit I may have had a little fangirl moment when I heard Wildfox wanted to work with me! I've been a fan of the brand for so long and now they've finally launched in the UK. Hurrah for no more import charges! This has become my new favourite t-shirt but I can't help but think the arrow should be pointing upwards rather than to my left.

Now these aren't the most flattering shorts for a girl with a pear-shaped figure like myself, but I couldn't help but buy them because they're just so dreamy! They're still available here on ASOS for just £17.50 in the sale! How do you like my rainbow co-ordination to my sunglasses too? I must admit this get-up had me feeling a bit like a unicorn and that's not a bad thing to feel! What do you think of my daytime look with DUO boots?

L I F E S T Y L E | Virgin Start-Up

17 April, 2014

Source

You may or may not be aware but in just three months time I come to the end of my degree and four long university years, which will see me taking on the ‘real world’ and the first steps towards my future career. It’s the most daunting time of any person’s life as it is a giant leap into the unexpected. Despite studying Illustration I’ve known for quite a while my heart is not entirely in it. Sure I absolutely love drawing, but I hate being told what to draw and how to draw. I suppose it’s taken the thrill and freedom a little out of it for me.

Stepping out into the world as a fresh-faced graduate can get a little tiresome. It can take years upon years of interning and countless rejections before you finally get a grasp of your career path. For some it can be so disconcerting and disheartening that those post-graduation dreams can get cast aside and forgotten. For quite a few years now, my own dreams have been focused on opening my own vintage clothing and record store somewhere along the south coast. The idea of being my own boss and surrounded by beautiful clothes is my idea of heaven. However, as mentioned previously I study Illustration meaning my business knowledge is pretty slim, which has cast doubts in my mind of this ever happening.

However, I recently came across Virgin Start-Up, a non-profit organisation, that helps young people who want to start their own business and become entrepreneurs. If you’re 18 years old or over you can apply through their website for a government backed start up loan and if you’re approved you’ll be given firsthand free business advice from your own personal mentor, who will help you every step of the ladder. One of their most recent successes is a handmade chocolate company, YuCoCo, which sells the most gorgeous, handmade chocolates. Yummy! They've also just started to promote a brand new lingerie start up company that they've just helped in the process of setting up. Although I’m a little uncertain as to where my own career path is leading after the daunting graduation it’s helped a lot to discover the Virgin Start-Up scheme for when I feel brave enough to conquer my vintage store dream.

O U T F I T | Bournemouth Beach

15 April, 2014

Sunglasses: Urban Outfitters (available here)
Tie-Dye Shirt: Market Stall
Crop Top: Urban Outfitters
Skirt: Vintage
Necklace: Primark
Belt: Charity Shop

Yesterday marked one whole year since I met my boyfriend so as the sun was shining to celebrate we jumped on a short train journey to our nearest seaside of Bournemouth. It only takes around thirty minutes from Southampton, which means it's within arm's reach all throughout the summer. I was actually expecting it to be rather windy and a little bit chilly once we got to Bournemouth as I feel as if us British people set our expectations too high once the sun finally shows itself. Many a time when the sun comes out at the start of the year have I jumped on a train to the beach only to find myself shivering underneath a jumper whilst sat huddled on the sand. Luckily this time the weather was perfect! We spent the day strolling the beach, eating fish and chips (or battered sausage in my case because I hate fish!), rinsing all of our money in the Pier arcade and bathing in the rare sunshine. Somehow we defied all the rules and managed to win not one, but two cuddly toys from the claw machines!

I wore a rather summery ensemble with this lace bralet teamed with a mirrored, embellished vintage skirt I picked up months ago and had completely forgotten about. The tie-dye, longline shirt was also a winter purchase that I've been eagerly awaiting the ideal weather to wear! I just wish I could spend every Monday in the company of the sun, the sea and the sand.
