O U T F I T | Star Drop Dress

28 July, 2014

Dress*: c/o Darccy
Hat: H&M
Boots: Vagabond via Urban Outfitters

Sometimes on that rare occassion you find a dress that makes you feel a million dollars (or pounds as I'm typing this from London!) and this Darccy 3-D embroidered dress is definitely one of those dresses. Now peach isn't a colour that I would usually go for as it's a bit delicate and girly for my taste, but there was something that drew me to this dress. Whilst the 3-D embroidery makes it look a lot more expensive than it actually is, the shift shape has the right amount of room to be flattering without swamping you entirely. If you look carefully you'll see it features quaint little stars that hang from all over the dress and move as you move. Darccy have a number of absolutely beautiful vintage-inspired dresses like this one which are perfect for date nights or cocktail parties!

O U T F I T | Lady Sunshine

24 July, 2014

Kimono*: c/o Lilylulu
Top: Vintage via ETTE Clothing
Shorts: Urban Outfitters (old)
Hat: H&M (old)
Boots: Vagabond via Urban Outfitters

It may have become apparent now but I have a penchant for kimonos. Lace, chiffon, fringed, maxi, printed or vintage. Any and every single kimono. I just love them. I'm building up quite a collection of throw over kimonos and in fact soon I'm sure I'll have to dedicate a whole rail to them! This incredible, maxi, bohemian inspired kimono is one of the most recent to my collection that is from Lilylulu. They have a delicious array of of kimonos to choose from but this patchwork one was just calling out to me.

The Indian, embroidered, mirrored top is a cheeky purchase from one of my top vintage treasure troves ETTE Clothing. They seem to have a knack for choosing some of the best vintage garms out there. This three-way pattern clash works in a 'so wrong, but right' kind-of-way, don't you think? Either that or I could just be trying to make excuses for my eclectic style choices. More than likely!

O U T F I T | If Everything Else Fails I'll Be A Unicorn

21 July, 2014

Dress*: c/o Sugarhill Boutique
Sunglasses*: London Retro c/o Glasses Direct
Necklace: Primark
Boots: Vagabond via Urban Outfitters

Sugarhill Boutique, could you have done any better?! Seriously? A dress with unicorns on it?! What more could a girl ask for really? This chiffon babydoll dress features uniquely, hand-drawn paired unicorns all over and is a perfect transitional piece as I'll be pairing it with opaque black tights and tan ankle boots in the autumn too. I must admit I felt a little like I was in a fairytale running around the cobbled streets of the historic Southampton Walls trail whilst covered in unicorns.

The vintage-inspired frames are by London Retro from Glasses Direct. London Retro are only a recent discovery, but I'm already a fan of their frames and this is my second pair! This particular set are a multi-coloured tortoise shell effect with cat eye lens for a little retro Hollywood glamour. They work perfect against a matte red lipstick, such as Mac Viva Glam, which I'm wearing here.

I start my first internship since graduating today, which is rather exciting. There's only so much you can do sitting around in your room unemployed. I think I was ready to return to work again after I had finished my Orange Is The New Black binge, which is fair, no?

O U T F I T | Key Lime Pie

18 July, 2014

Jacket*: c/o iKrush
Two-Piece*: c/o Desire Clothing
Shoes*: c/o Missguided
Hat: H&M

Never in a million years would I have opted for the luminous colour lime. Maybe it's my pale skin tone and fear of attracting an army of wasps to me, but never have I picked up a lime piece of clothing and thought "I NEED IT!" That was until I spotted this lime, pom-pom trimmed two-piece from Desire Clothing. Initially I was going to opt for the safety of the pastel version, but it had sold out so I took the plunge and went for the lime version. I've got to admit I'm so glad I did as I absolutely love it and it doesn't wash out my pale skin tone as much as I thought it would!

It also happens to sit perfectly with this white, crochet lace jacket from iKrush, who are quickly becoming one of the top hotspots for affordable, on trend pieces. This sixties inspired jacket is so versatile and will also see me through the start of autumn as well as summer!

These photos were shot next to the most incredible pine cone tree we spotted whilst in Southampton. James managed to snatch down this green, mid-grown pine cone which smelt delicious and reminded me of some kind of exotic fruit. Maybe I'm a little uneducated but I had never seen or known pine cones to be green before and found it fascinating!

O U T F I T | Missguided Festival

15 July, 2014

Entire outfit*: c/o Missguided

So, I'm back in London after a lovely, long weekend back in my south coast second home of Southampton. It was a weekend that consisted of intense charity shopping, burger making (mmm!), tree-climbing and outfit shooting around the city.

It may be a little predictable, but every single summer I look forward to the 'festival trend'. Of course, being an avid festival-goer and fan is partly the reason for this, but also I cannot say no to a little fringing, floppy hats and garish, colourful prints. In fact, this entire Missguided ensemble had me feeling raring and ready for a festival! Missguided are one of my favourite stores for stylish, festival appropriate pieces. I mean LOOK AT THIS PAISLEY JUMPSUIT! In fact, it's more of a catsuit than a jumpsuit as it's a fitted, stretchy, jersey material. I decided to team it with this cropped, suedette black jacket, holographic platform sandals and flower crown for a dream festival look.

If you're stuck on what to wear to an upcoming festival this summer, make sure you check out Missguided's festival shop before anything else. There's just so much on there that I'm coveting! What are your key festival pieces?

L I F E S T Y L E | The Post-Grad Move Back To My Hometown

12 July, 2014

As I've mentioned previously, two weeks back I left my gorgeous Southampton student house to move back to my hometown of Woodford, which is ideally in Greater East London, a perfect location for a budding creative like myself. Despite having always wanting to move back to London, leaving Southampton was absolutely heartbreaking as I had to leave behind my boyfriend, some incredible friendships and a job I had loved. I also fell a little in love with the city itself. I know a lot of other graduates are in the same position right now. For me, it was one of the hardest things I think I've ever done. However, I'm already back in Southampton this weekend visiting James, so of course I'll always be back and forth to my adopted home city. I just wish it were possible to live in two places at once.

Moving back home after four years of living completely independently has been a little alien to me, but of course it's been rather nostalgic as I'm once again surrounded by childhood and teenage memories in the area I grew up. In typical blogger fashion of course I've documented absolutely every step, so here's a few snippets of my first few weeks back in London.

O U T F I T | Double Mandala

09 July, 2014

Kimono & Skirt*: c/o Motel Rocks (use code 'leightravers' for 20% off!)
Top*: c/o H&M
Hat: H&M
Boots: Vagabond via Urban Outfitters

Last night I was lucky enough to attend a blogger workshop hosted by Vonage, a company that provide second landlines to stay at home business owners and freelancers, an genius idea for those who want to remain professional whilst working from home! The subject up for discussion was turning your blog into a business. The talk was led by fellow bloggers Emma of The Freelance Lifestyle and Elizabeth from Rosalilium who have already taken the plunge into the freelance pool. Freelance is something I eventually want to achieve, so it was really insightful and inspiring to hear some great advice from the girls and it has really got me re-thinking my blog.

I wore a double Motel Rocks ensemble for my blogger event debut since moving to London. I ordered the skirt last month, but was chuffed to see the kimono had gone into their most recent sale, so I put my credit towards it so I could wear them as a two-piece. The mandala print collection is an oldie, but still remains my firm favourite of their collections. Remember you can get a neat 20% off of your order at Motel with the discount code 'leightravers' applied at the checkout!
