O U T F I T | Denim Pinafore

Entire outfit* (expect the hat): Boohoo // Hat*: ASOS

Firstly I have to apologise as my camera was on the wrong setting when shooting this outfit, hence why they look like they've been taken on a disposable camera. No amount of editing could save them, I tell you!

This entire outfit, apart from the hat, is one I picked out  from Boohoo during their #BoohooBlowBar event, which is where I had the chance to have a peek at the upcoming AW collection and have my hair styled by the team at Blo Salon.

I actually have a Zara dress in the exact same folk print as the top I've worn layered underneath the denim button down pinafore. I just love my Zara dress and the print of it so much, I thought why the hell not own a matching top too?

O U T F I T | Saved By The Bell(s)

17 August, 2015
I'm still not over bell bottoms. I know they've been done to death ever since that summer Kendall Jenner (the best of the bunch concerning that family, imo) donned a pair at Coachella and every Tom, Dick & Harry adorned their legs with them. I actually had two pairs of bells (one crushed blue velvet & one patterned) sat at the back of my wardrobe for a year or so before KJ stepped out into hers making them not so "What the fuck are you wearing, girl?". For that Kendall, I thank you.

I'd like to think I have the guts to wear more extravagant items before they're decorating every wall in Topshop, but I don't. I really don't. Despite my wardrobe resembling a cross between a vintage emporium and a theatrical costume closet, when getting dressed in the morning I still fight with my inside voice who argues that if I were to wear that floor-length sequin kimono I'd be mocked on the bus. Sometimes that inside voice wins and sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes I'll go out looking like a patchwork blanket and not give a flying fuck! Other days I'll give in to a serious lack of self confidence and throw on something 'safe'. Unfortunately it won the war over bell bottoms before 2014. Daisy has written a really, inspiring article concerning wardrobe confidence, which is well worth a read if you suffer with the same wardrobe dilemma as me.

Hat: ASOS // Jacket: H&M via Charity Shop // Crop*: Bird On A Wire Vintage //
Bell Bottoms: Missguided // Boots: Topshop

These bell bottoms I managed to nab in the sale from Missguided (available here) pretty recently for just £8 (with a 20% discount thrown on top!!). You might have seen my collaboration with Missguided a few months back where I donned a pair of their tile-print bells. I was so impressed by the fit and just how high-waisted they are that I was desperate for a pair in this print too. You cannot imagine my glee when they came back into stock and were in the sale. It was a good day, my friend. It was a good day.

Speaking of good days, another one was when I chanced across this embroidered jacket in a charity shop for just £6. I missed out when it was in stores at H&M, but was lucky enough to find it tucked on a rail in a Barnado's charity shop back in Essex. The wonderful Indian inspired little crop is another piece from vintage favourite, Bird On A Wire

O U T F I T | ASOS Festival Style

11 August, 2015
When it comes to outfit pre-planning for a festival, my first stop is always ASOS. There's just so much choice and so many brands to choose from. So much so that you could easily compile your entire festival wardrobe from there, from your extravagant headwear right down to your novelty printed socks!

When ASOS asked me to showcase my top festival picks from their festival collection and shoot a festival appropriate outfit, I was in my absolute element.

Hat*: ASOS // Tunic: Monsoon // Necklace: Primark // Bag: Charity Shop //
Watch*: Daniel Wellington // Boots*: Vamps

My style is very much 'festival inspired' all year around. I feel as if my wardrobe would see me through a 365-day festival if it had to!

I always have at least one fedora with me for a festival as it hides a multitude of greasy hair sins on the last day when dry shampoo is no longer the answer. This brown, faux suede fedora is from ASOS and it is everything my fedora collection was missing! It's only £18 too, which really is friendly on anyone's bank balance.

When I was a teenager, I had a brief Christmas job with Monsoon and at the time I absolutely hated it. It's only as I've grown a little bit older I've began to appreciate just how many lovely pieces they have to offer, although a little out of my own price range. However, I picked up this embroidered, cheesecloth tunic in the sale at a little over £20. Bargain, right?

I've compiled a little lookbook of my favourite festival picks over on ASOS at the moment. Have a little scroll through and see what you think! I'd love to hear your thoughts.

Is there anything that's caught your eye over on ASOS at the moment? My 'Saved Items' list is getting pretty extortionate!

O U T F I T | Best Kept Secret Festival Outfits

10 August, 2015
Back in June I kick-started my festival adventures for the summer with Best Kept Secret Festival in the Netherlands. I'll be writing a record of my entire experience at BKS shortly, but in the meantime I thought I'd take you through a rundown of my festival style outfits whilst I was there.

I definitely took more clothes than I need for a 3-day festival, but an outfit change a day is part of the festival fun, right?!

Rainbow Vintage Poncho

This rainbow, crochet, seventies poncho has to be the ultimate festival statement piece. As soon as I spotted it on the BOAW website I absolutely adored it. It's definitely a poncho that'll be accompanying me on multiple festival ventures because as well as looking fantastically extravagant, it's also really snug for when it gets a little chilly in the evening.

A few weeks before I set off for BKS I popped into the Superdry Regent Street Store and the Brick Lane Rokit store to pick up a few pieces to top off my festival outfits. I left Superdry with this cute, cream, smock dress which is an ideal staple piece to dress  up. This stunning, vintage golden kimono, which is rather heavy is from Rokit.

Totally irrelevant, but I couldn't not mention it... There was a woman skinny dipping in the lake behind me whilst these photos were being taken. We were giggling like 8 year old children!

The festival is situated around a huge lake with beaches dotted around it meaning you were allowed to go for a dip in the water whenever you pleased. This meant taking some swimwear along which has been gathering dust in my wardrobe as I never really go on beach holidays.

This is an old Motel swimsuit, but I've always loved the celestial print. I actually have their smock dress in the matching print too. The kimono was part of a rather generous package from the Ann Summers team. It was perfect to throw over after taking a little dip in the water.

Sunglasses*: Bird On A Wire Vintage // Waistcoat: Car Boot // Top: Primark // Shorts: Beyond Retro // Bumbag*: Jaded LDN

I've featured these oversized circle sunnies from BOAW vintage before, but they accompanied me to Best Kept Secret before I unfortunately broke them. I seem to have a curse when it comes to sunglasses and umbrellas. I either lose or break them within weeks of getting them and it's pretty annoying! Especially when I absolutely loved these sunglasses too!

These brown suede shorts were a bargain from the Beyond Retro garage sale a few months ago and they only cost me around £4, whilst the denim waistcoat cost me £2 from a car boot! You can't see it from these photos, but it actually has little stars embroidered onto the pockets.

Kimono: ASOS via Charity Shop // Dress: Rat & Boa // Boots: Charity Shop

On the very last evening, when the sun came out to play, I decided to opt for a rainbow explosion look! I found this fluro coloured, floral kimono in a charity shop a few weeks beforehand, although it's originally from ASOS. Again, this only cost me £3!

The rainbow, crochet dress is from Rat & Boa around a year ago. I bought it when everyone went crazy for R&B's rainbow crochet, but this was actually the first time I ever decided to wear it!

I'll be posting about my overall Best Kept Secret Festival experience soon, so keep your eyes peeled for that!

S H O P P I N G | Free People King's Road Pop-Up

05 August, 2015
Last Thursday night I headed to London to attend the Free People summer party in celebration of their first ever physical UK store! Granted it's only a pop-up shop but it's something myself and other Free People enthusiasts have been waiting on for years. It was exciting enough when a UK-based website was opened a few years back, which meant no more surprise nasty overseas taxes and duties!

The launch party consisted of vegetarian nibbles and exquisite floral cocktails in Bo Drake, based in the heart of Soho. It was a lovely, light-hearted evening that left us all feeling very merry on a late July summer evening.

At the end of the night we were gifted with a voucher to spend in the new King's Road pop-up store, which was conveniently opening the following morning. As I was visiting London for the weekend, I decided to be a rather keen bean and pop along with Lois on the opening day to find myself a little something for an upcoming wedding.

The pop-up store is just a short(ish) walk from Sloane Square station and is right next door to sister store, Anthropologie. The store front is rather striking upon first impressions as it is adorned with emerald green and floral print tiles, as well as a wonderful stained glass overhead window. The stunning building itself really pays compliment to the Free People brand. Although inside is rather small, they've made use of the space rather well as each wall is lined with a rail of selected Free People pieces for you to shop. Situated in the centre as a focal point are two mannequins dressed head-to-toe in Free People garms.

The staff are some of the friendliest and chattiest girls I've ever come across in retail. As soon as you step into the store they are ever so welcoming and are on hand to help you with anything you need whether it be styling advice or fetching another size. They're the perfect team of FP girls and really do help make the experience a little more special, which is part of the Free People experience.

The price point is rather varied from a £15 paisley neck tie right up to a £450 soft leather bag, but this is well-suited to the other boutiques along King's Road, which are more higher end than the typical high street store.

I ended up purchasing the most romantic burgundy lace, bell-sleeved dress that I simply cannot wait to show you! I'm saving it's debut appearance for a school friend's wedding next weekend.

Visit the pop-up at: 141 King's Road, London, SW3 4PW

O U T F I T | Lovebox Festival

03 August, 2015

Dress*: Superdry // Necklaces: New Look & Topshop // Jacket*: Zara via Westfield Stratford // Bag: Zara // Boots*: Vamps
Photos by Laura

Festivals are all about having fun with your outfits and wearing fantastical frocks that you may not be able to on a day in the office. That's why I decided to opt for this fluro coral smock dress from Superdry. Fluorescent coral isn't a colour that I would usually go for, but there's just something about this dress that drew me to it. It's the perfect summer festival ready dress that you can just throw on with some face paint and you're set to dance until dawn!

You may have read in my previous post that before Lovebox I took a trip to Westfield Stratford, where I pretty much destroyed the Zara sale! This suede, fringed jacket and woven bag were just a few of the new additions to my wardrobe that came home with me that day.

Now, can we please talk about my new boots Vamps?! I first discovered Vamps over on their Instagram channel and absolutely fell head over heels for their hand-embroidered and embellished western boots. I got chatting to the wonder woman behind the brand, Sherri, who is the epitome of a 'Vamps girl'; she's sweet, chatty, free-spirited, creative and charismatic. I really wish we could be real-life pals, but unfortunately there's a huge ocean between us *sob*. You can really tell she puts her absolute heart and soul into every pair of boots, creating a pair of Vamps adorned with charms and a story to suit every customer's unique personality. I can't express how much I love mine and they are permanently glued onto the end of my feet. Also, I've never had a pair of boots that have drawn so many compliments and that's always a plus!
