O U T F I T | Saved By The Bell(s)

17 August, 2015
I'm still not over bell bottoms. I know they've been done to death ever since that summer Kendall Jenner (the best of the bunch concerning that family, imo) donned a pair at Coachella and every Tom, Dick & Harry adorned their legs with them. I actually had two pairs of bells (one crushed blue velvet & one patterned) sat at the back of my wardrobe for a year or so before KJ stepped out into hers making them not so "What the fuck are you wearing, girl?". For that Kendall, I thank you.

I'd like to think I have the guts to wear more extravagant items before they're decorating every wall in Topshop, but I don't. I really don't. Despite my wardrobe resembling a cross between a vintage emporium and a theatrical costume closet, when getting dressed in the morning I still fight with my inside voice who argues that if I were to wear that floor-length sequin kimono I'd be mocked on the bus. Sometimes that inside voice wins and sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes I'll go out looking like a patchwork blanket and not give a flying fuck! Other days I'll give in to a serious lack of self confidence and throw on something 'safe'. Unfortunately it won the war over bell bottoms before 2014. Daisy has written a really, inspiring article concerning wardrobe confidence, which is well worth a read if you suffer with the same wardrobe dilemma as me.

Hat: ASOS // Jacket: H&M via Charity Shop // Crop*: Bird On A Wire Vintage //
Bell Bottoms: Missguided // Boots: Topshop

These bell bottoms I managed to nab in the sale from Missguided (available here) pretty recently for just £8 (with a 20% discount thrown on top!!). You might have seen my collaboration with Missguided a few months back where I donned a pair of their tile-print bells. I was so impressed by the fit and just how high-waisted they are that I was desperate for a pair in this print too. You cannot imagine my glee when they came back into stock and were in the sale. It was a good day, my friend. It was a good day.

Speaking of good days, another one was when I chanced across this embroidered jacket in a charity shop for just £6. I missed out when it was in stores at H&M, but was lucky enough to find it tucked on a rail in a Barnado's charity shop back in Essex. The wonderful Indian inspired little crop is another piece from vintage favourite, Bird On A Wire
