I'm not much of a crafter despite my creative history having studied an illustration degree at art school. I do use the term 'studied' rather loosely though. However, in recent weeks I've found myself at not one but two separate Christmassy craft events which has finally led to me feeling a little more festive and a little more creative than usual!

Carpet Camouflage with Carpetright
10 December, 2016
Whenever a campaign lands in my inbox that involves one of the pets in my life, I get this overwhelming sense of pride come over me, and that is exactly what happened when Carpetright's Carpet Camouflage campaign landed in my inbox.
Originally Carpetright's outreach email, which asked for me to take some photos of a pet camouflaged against one of Carpetright's products, was intended for my dog, Toffee. Unfortunately due to the long-winded house move I'm currently involved in, I didn't have the time to visit home and make the deadline that was set, but that certainly wasn't going to halt my eagerness for getting involved. Nope! Instead, I suggested that we could use Tink, James' not-so-little white cat, to model for us on a white carpet.
How to Spend 24 Hours in Amsterdam
06 December, 2016I've gotten to the point where I feel homesick for Amsterdam, despite being born and raised in London. Over the past two years I've been to the Netherlands five or six times (I've honestly lost count) and I've truly fallen for it. You can see from my previous blog posts on Amsterdam, that I am utterly besotted. Everyone has that first love that their heart just cannot let go of and mine just happens to be a city rather than an actual human being.
When I saw Accor Hotels were challenging bloggers to write a post describing exactly how they would spend 24 hours in a city of their choice, it was always going to be Amsterdam for me. I'm not really one for tourist attractions, so I've based my post on how I would typically spend one of my days in Amsterdam guided by some of my favourite places that I've chanced across over the past couple of years.
Turtle Bay Southampton Review
04 December, 2016
Phone number: 023 8063 9568
Turtle Bay in Southampton was always a regular haunt for me during my student years in the city; the 2 for 1 cocktails offer that runs throughout most of the day was always too tempting to resist. However, somehow I have always avoided eating there, not out of personal choice, but because when you’re a student you tend to prioritise spending your student loan on alcoholic beverages over food.
James and I were recently invited down to the Southampton-based, Caribbean cuisine restaurant to sample the menu and I really couldn’t contain my excitement. When I worked a part-time job on the high street, my walk to work used to take me past Turtle Bay most days and the mouthwatering spicy smells of the food from the kitchen used to drift out teasingly onto the street. You could stand outside for hours and revel in that sweet, sweet aroma!
Exploring North Amsterdam in La Redoute

A couple of weeks ago I returned from my fifth visit to the Netherlands over the past two years. Ever since I first stepped foot in Amsterdam in the February of last year, it stole a little piece of my heart and I've felt unsettled ever since. There's just something about that city that has a hold on me and draws me back continuously. We usually spend our time in the Netherlands capital walking as far as our legs can carry us along the winding canal belts, because that's exactly what a city break should be about. Admittedly, we kind of suck at the more tourist aspects of things and despite our numerous visits, we still haven't seen a lot of the tourist attractions. Instead we seek out flea markets, engage with locals, drink until the early hours, eat as much as physically possible and explore the suburbs. This particular trip we found ourselves north of the city, and just when I thought I couldn't fall in love with Amsterdam anymore we found Amsterdam-Noord.
A short, free ferry trip from Centraal station is this industrial plain with shipping containers that have been converted into restaurants, warehouses filled with secondhand treasures, cute little bars dotted with fairylights and street art canvassed over every single surface. It's just wonderful. If we were ever to up sticks to Amsterdam, the north would be my first area to search for a home.

The day I was wearing this outfit a little girl thought I was a witch, but in all honesty I'm okay with that. A Day On Board The Navigator of the Seas
19 October, 2016
I've been living in Southampton on and off over the past six years, but having been brought up in London, I have always been intrigued by the towering cruise ships that temporarily dock along the Solent before gathering a new lot of passengers every week. Seeing them has always brought this childlike wonder over me as I had never really experienced cruise ships or the open water as a child. During my years in this seaside city, I've often sat in the green, open Mayflower Park opposite the cruise ship dock, overwhelmed at the sheer size of the boats that frequent the nearby waters and wonder where it will take its passengers on their next adventure and more importantly, how on earth they manage to stay afloat! Seriously though, how DO they do it?!
A few weeks ago I was invited for an afternoon onboard the Navigator of the Seas, which is part of the Royal UK fleet of cruise ships. Now it's hard to put into perspective just how huge this boat is (I've tried to photograph it, but it was just too freakin' massive to fit in the frame without standing a looonnggg way back). Although a cruise holiday has never particularly appealed to me in the past, I was excited to explore the ship for the day!

The Ultimate Burger Cake from Parteaz Cakes
27 September, 2016
My first love. Burgers are a huge part of my life and my heart. I'm on a one-woman mission to find the best burger in the world, so when I was asked to design my own cake there was only one design I had in mind.
A couple of months ago I was asked by Parteaz Cakes if I wanted to review one of their custom made celebration cakes. Even though I didn't have a party coming up and James' birthday had just passed, I couldn't pass up the opportunity for cake now, could I?! I mean, when do you ever need an excuse to sit and eat cake? Never.
The George Knitwear Care Club
24 September, 2016
Long time, no blog... but seriously, sorry, it's been a while!
I've been struggling with the 5 hours commuting a day, balancing a regular blog schedule and maintaining some sort of social life. Once I've upped sticks back to London again, my blog should develop a steady routine once again. But until then, you'll have to bear with me. In the meantime, you can follow me over on Instagram where I'm updating more regularly.
Anyway, last month I was asked by George at Asda to join their #KnitwearCareClub and submit some knitwear tips for their blog. As an avid lover of knitwear and autumn winter trends in general, I was more than up for the challenge. Plus, I get ever so excited just thinking about the arrival of autumn! After all, it's the season that matches my hair perfectly *insert sassy lady emoji here*.
They also sent over a bundle of autumn goodies including this grey, aztec knit cardigan pictured above. As someone who is very particular with cardigans, I was instantly drawn to this one which has a certain vintage aesthetic to it and would not look out of place on the rails in Beyond Retro. It's the PEEEERRRFEECCTT throw-over for those days when you don't have the time to think about your outfit (so every single day for me right now). When it comes to knitwear, the most desirable trait is to be suitably snug and for it to match the majority of your wardrobe, and luckily this one fits the bill!
They were also kind enough to send over a bunch of cosy, autumnal homewares including an amazing, porcelain fox lamp! Predictably, I'm a sucker for anything that's even remotely fox-themed.
Are you as excited for autumn knitwear as I am?
Top 3 Street Food Stalls I'm Looking Forward to at OnRoundhay 2016
04 September, 2016
Nowadays music festivals have to rely on a lot more than a reputable line-up to stand out from the hundreds upon hundreds of other festivals out there. From incredible art installations, educational talks, human experiments (I'm looking at you Burning Man), pop-up cities, and utopian communities, festivals have developed into a unique experience that caters to all of the senses rather than just sound.
For OnRoundhay Festival, a one-day festival held in Leeds, they've decided to focus on catering to taste with an extraordinary street food line-up curated by none other than Leeds Indie Food. As a self-confessed 'dirty eater', foodie and all round appreciator of anything edible, festival food is something that has my stomach, body and soul wholly excited, especially with a line-up as exciting as this! MY STOMACH IS READY.
Vintage Style Me

When I first started this personal style blog (back then it was named 'Fox Tales') Vintage Style Me became one of the first indie, online vintage brands I fell in love with through the blogging world. At the time it was a mixture of one-off vintage pieces and hand lovingly made dresses from reclaimed textiles by VSM's talented creator, Rhiannon. Since those days, VSM has come a long, long way and now thrives on just Rhiannon's hand crafted sartorial, retro-inspired creations.
She contacted me a few weeks ago and kindly offered to send over one of her dresses from her AW16 collection that she just knew I would love, and it's safe to say, this girl know my style because the mustard, lace, bell-sleeved swing dress is my cup of tea! The mustard lace is layered over a hot pink satin under layer, which creates such a gorgeous, striking contrast.

A while back I was invited to raid the Tick Tock Vintage warehouse in Peckham. I mean, I had free reign of the entire wholesale vintage clothing archive, which is what sweet dreams are made of for a vintage fiend and secondhand treasure hunter like myself.
Situated in Peckham, London, Tick Tock Vintage are the people behind a lot of your favourite online vintage brands and festival stalls. Upon entering their warehouse you can expect to be overwhelmed with piles upon piles of colourful 50s frocks, 60s two-pieces, 70s suede and 80s sportswear stacked high in a somewhat organised chaos. To some people, it might induce a panic attack, but for me, it was heaven. I spent the best part of two hours picking apart the piles admiring each individual piece that had been hand-selected from across Europe for their stock. You can read my interview with Tick Tock Vintage about my afternoon at their warehouse over on their blog.
After a fair amount of time exploring their retro treasures, I left with a high-waisted, folksy skirt and the most extravagant, oversized, suede, scarlet red, fringed, jacket that has me feeling like the lead in an old western movie. I have a number of vintage, suede, fringed jackets but I didn't have a red one in my collection, which is why I felt it was appropriate to take this baby home with me; when I refer to an item of clothing as 'baby', you know the love is real.
I shot these photos with the wonderful Katherine in Southampton's old town, which happens to be my favourite part of the city. Alive with supposedly haunted tudor architecture and tumbling castle walls, this little corner of Southampton is nestled quietly behind the towering shopping centre and high street. If you're not a local or if you're not visiting the city for its history, then the likelihood is that you wouldn't even notice it was there. It's the most idyllic spot for a outfit post narrative, which is another reason as to why I love it so much.
If you're ever in the city, it's worth a wander around the Old Town.
Something really, really awesome happened...
20 August, 2016
This week something really fucking awesome happened. Whilst I was out at a press dinner with Kaye, I took my phone out to snap a photo of the dirty but delicious cheesesteak sandwiches that were presented before me and was met with more Twitter notifications than my phone has ever seen. It had been announced that I was shortlisted for best fashion blog in The Bloggers Blog Awards! At the time I was sat in a white lace dress with neon orange buffalo sauce splattered down the front of it, so I have never felt less deserving of a nomination in FASHION. I actually started shaking from freaking out so much at the time!
I cannot contain how absolutely overwhelmed I am by this, even a few days after the initial announcement, as I have never in my five years of running this blog been put forward for something like this before. As someone who is far from a big numbers blogger and whose wardrobe is easily 80% secondhand, which is mainly sourced from charity or vintage shops, I've always found my style to be quite particular (and sometimes a little eccentric) so it has bewildered me that people have considered using their fashion-based vote in these awards for little ol' me. The fact it was decided upon by fellow bloggers and readers makes it all the more overwhelming and special, because that's the reason I've kept this blog ticking along all of these years; if you're reading this right now, you're the person I write for!
I'm rambling on a little now and I'm not sure where this is going, but I just wanted to write a little something to say a huge 'THANK YOU' not only to those who voted for me, but to those who have read my blog over the years, supported me, collaborated with me on content, talked sense into me when I've contemplated calling it quits and have just generally been a positive influence over my blog over the past few years. Also, a big shout out to James for being the most patient 'Instagram boyfriend' in the world the past 3 years!
Although it's absolutely incredible to be shortlisted for this award, there are so many awesome fucking bloggers out there who put so much love and time into their blogs that weren't necessarily nominated this time. Whilst these awards are a reason to come together, socialise, drink far too much wine and celebrate, it by no means raises nominated bloggers above others at all. We've each and all had an input into creating this absolutely kick ass (because we really are kick ass!) online community that's churning out creativity and content every hour of the day and night. We've got this!

Cruelty Free Beauty: The Hero Project Skincare
17 August, 2016
Hyasoft Instant Moisture Boost* & Glow Drops* by The Hero Project
I'll be the first to admit, I'm not too strong with skincare.
My routine is rather irregular and my skin is overly sensitive meaning a lot of products end up making my skin break out in an army of spots, so I often just stick to water and a little, gentle moisturiser. I'm always on the lookout for that holy grail product (*cringe* I do despise that term) that may save my skin whilst also being cruelty-free, so when the opportunity to review a couple of products from The Hero Project popped up, I welcomed it with open arms. And you know what? I may have finally found that product...

And you know what? I may have finally found that product...
Hyasoft Instant Moisture Boost, £19:
The Hyasoft moisture boost is exactly what it says on the tin tube; an awakening and refreshing boost that should accompany your morning fix of caffeine to get you ready for the day. Well, it doesn't exactly say that on the tube, but it definitely should.
It's a silky, clear gel with multi-weight hyaluronic acid & vitamin B5, which helps rehydrate tired and worn out skin that has been ruined by the elements (aka. this harsh, entirely unpredictable British weather). As someone who suffers from dry patches of skin in both the winter and summer, I've been reaching for Hyasoft continuously over the past few weeks. Personally, I find I have to apply it quite generously across my face and neck but it does sink in impressively quickly, which means it's ideal to slap on in the morning before my usual make-up routine.
Glow Drops, £21:
HOLY COW! I cannot contain how much love I have for this product. It has been an absolute game changer when it comes to my skincare routine. As someone who suffers with combination skin (dry patches here and there followed by a whopping greasy forehead), finding facial skincare products can be a pain in the bum, quite frankly. In all honesty, I usually avoid oils simply down to the fear of them leaving my skin overly greasy and shiny. However, I've seen no excess oil from these Glow Drops but instead they've given my skin a little boost and radiance in the mornings, which is something that is desperately needed after my five hour sleep routines right now.
It comes with a little pipette that is attached to the lid, which helps distribute the product properly without any waste as you really only do need a few drops. You simply push the yellow button on the top of the lid to draw the oil into the tube, which is also a bit of a novelty in itself! I would recommend using it sparingly as a little really does go a long way with this product.

Welcoming My 8th Pair of Dr Martens
15 August, 2016
Top: Zara // Skirt: Primark // Hat: Zara // Sunglasses: Primark // Skirt: Primark // Boots*: Dr. Martens
Everyone remembers the first pair of Dr. Martens that graced their feet; mine were a not-so-subtle, metallic gold, soft leather pair of classic 8-eyelet boots that I purchased from some semi-famous scene kid with huge, backcombed hair on MySpace for £30. Who knew MySpace was doing what Depop does today, but a decade earlier! I actually still have that metallic gold pair in my growing Dr. Martens collection... eight pairs and counting if you were curious!
ASOS x Hunter Festival Style
11 August, 2016
Hunter boots*: ASOS (available here) // Blouse: Beatnik Vintage // Shorts: Beyond Retro // Hat: Zara
It's no secret that I love a festival. Despite not thinking I had any planned, this year I've been to both British Summer Time and Citadel Festival, as well as landing a digital job at a festival company, so I wouldn't say this summer hasn't been entirely festival free. Next year, I'm hoping to have my biggest festival year yet!
Festival styling is something that I like to think I'm pretty confident in; give me a challenge to piece together five days worth of outfits for Glastonbury and I'll be in my element. For the past decade of my festival adventures, wellies have been a necessary item in my festival wardrobe. However, over the last seven or eight years, I've had the same pair of metallic, golden Hunter boots that have seen me through many a festival across a few different countries; they've seen me through turbulent, drunken times including being knee deep in Glastonbury mud and they've still lived to tell the tale. I don't think I would ever switch from Hunter boots, because they really do last a lifetime.

Now, I love my golden Hunter boots with all my heart and they'll probably see me through until my 60's when I'll still be dancing in the Green Fields of Worthy Farm, but it was time to introduce a new pair of Hunter boots into my collection; enter, the original, refined, black, matte boots from ASOS!
These high, matte boots are becoming the must-have, iconic festival piece along with the classic Ray Ban wayfarers sunglasses (and they happen work together tremendously well, fyi). These boots been spotted on the likes of Alexa Chung, Emma Watson and many more. Hunter have redefined the clumsy festival wellington boot and have made them sleek, suave and the most desirable boot going for every festival.
Do you own a pair of Hunter boots?
His 'n' Hers Shores Leather Jackets
07 August, 2016
Leather Biker Jackets*: Shores
Firstly, apologies for the lack of content this week. I started my new job on Monday, so I'm just starting to get into the swing of things and am trying my hardest to find a balance between work and blogging. I'm commuting five hours a day at the moment between Southampton to central London, so it may take a while before I find a schedule that works. I was naive enough to think I would be able to blog on the commute between Southampton and London, but if you've ever used South West trains wi-fi before you'll know what a pipe dream that was. Even my dial up broadband back in the noughties was faster than their wi-fi service.
Anyway, last month I rather miraculously enticed James in front of the camera to shoot our new leather bikers that were sent to us by Shores. Shores are a website that specialise in jackets and only jackets. Whilst a lot of people have an issue with collecting shoes or handbags, my weakness is jackets; I currently have probably around 40 - 50 in my wardrobe, which is quite frankly ridiculous. My argument is that a leather, biker is a staple item and goes with almost everything, so it's acceptable to have one in a variety of colours and styles, right?
Palm Vaults, Hackney
31 July, 2016
When I first found Palm Vaults over on Instagram they jumped straight to the top of my 'to visit' list the next time I was in London. I spent far too long scrolling through their feed of mouth watering treats, multi-coloured coffees and absolutely splendid decor which is crawling with greenery and overgrown foliage; this place was already my home from home and I hadn't even had the chance to visit. Their dedication to aesthetic as well as food and drink is obvious, but I dig that.
So a few weeks ago I was invited to Citadel Festival in Victoria Park, which was conveniently just a 10 minute bus journey from Palm Vaults. Needless to say, I seized the chance to organise brunch with Kaye before we headed to the festival and luckily she was just as enthusiastic as me to drop by once she'd had a scroll through their social media channels. If there's one thing to commend Palm Vaults on, it's their marketing via word of mouth. I've seen their signature green plants and pale pink decor consistently plastered all over my social feed for weeks on end as people take a mini pilgrimage to Hackney to snap a photo of their perfect pink public loo (myself included).

Avocado & Coffee Smoothie with Alpro
27 July, 2016
If there's one thing I absolutely detest it is cow's milk. I'm not vegan, but there's something slimy and lumpy about animal milk that absolutely repulses me, so I've avoided drinking it as much as possible for a good few years now. I also find as soon as I've had cow's milk in my coffee, my stomach instantly feels bloated and uncomfortable - ugh! My hatred for milk has meant over the years I've had to find suitable dairy free replacements, particularly something that works with my constant stream of coffee throughout the day. Alpro have always been my favourite plant based brand for tasty, dairy free products so I was delighted when a box of goodies from them arrived for me to play with.
On my recent visit to kick ass coffee shop, Palm Vaults, I tried Kaye's avocado and coffee smoothie. Avocado and coffee are two tastes that I adore separately, but I wasn't quite sure just how they were going to work together. Much to my surprise I absolutely loved the combination; the avocado worked to make the consistency creamy, which was similar to that of a frappe but this one was a lot healthier! It inspired me to try my own coffee avocado smoothie at home with a few of the Alpro products that were gifted to me.

I'll be honest with you; the past few weeks I've abandoned my blog in favour of becoming a Pokemon trainer master.
I never really 'grew out' of Pokemon, despite being 25 years old. I still re-watch the old episodes and movies, collect the trading cards and play Pokemon Stadium on the Nintendo 64. I've even still got my Gameboy Colour with Pokemon Yellow to hand and a Pikachu pyjama top from the 90's that still fits. The launch of Pokemon Go was always going to be a landmark in my lifetime and a distraction from everything else, including my blog. The past few weeks I've found myself walking for miles and miles on the hunt for new additions to my Pokedex and I've found myself neglecting my online documentation, but I'm okay with that.
I actually shot this outfit just after a Pokemon Go hunt in the city centre; it actually happens to be a really great re-spawn and lure spot (for those who do not play Pokemon Go, I apologise for all of the Poke-lingo). So, I suppose this was my trainer uniform for the day!
'Snippets of Amsterdam' After Movie
22 July, 2016
A few months ago, James and myself jumped aboard a Megabus to endure a 13 hour journey to our favourite European city, Amsterdam. We only decided to go a month beforehand because we had booked tickets to see the RuPaul's Drag Race tour out there, as it worked out considerably cheaper than seeing them in London with travel costs included (£13 each way to Amsterdam!). Crazy, right? I've got to admit it was a struggle as we were both suffering with the flu the first few days of our trip and throughout the bus journey, which meant we were those annoyingly sick people coughing our lungs up the whole way.
As we were travelling all the way to the Netherlands for a drag show, we decided to make a few days of it and spent five days wandering through those picturesque, cobbled streets. I took some video footage in between the days of our sickness and wanted to share it with you guys in a quick after movie below. Unfortunately it's taken so long to upload because I'm having an absolute mare with my iMovie freezing during playback, which has meant I've not been able to edit this too smoothly. Now if someone wants to buy me Final Cut Pro, I wouldn't object, as my relationship with iMovie is a little rocky right now.

24 Hours in Brighton with Ibis Hotels #InBedWithIbis
18 July, 2016A few weekends back I was invited to spend 24 hours in my happy place, which just so happens to be Brighton. I often day dream of moving to that charming seaside city some day, so I absolutely grab any opportunity to visit when I can. This was all thanks to Ibis Hotels who offered to put me and my gal pal, Becky, up for the night in their hotel, which is conveniently located only a stone's throw from the train station. I had booked the Friday afternoon off of work meaning I could kickstart my weekend a little earlier than usual, so around 1pm I jumped aboard the train leaving Southampton along the south coast to Brighton. I was rather annoyed by this point as I had brought my laptop to do some work during the two hour journey, but the train didn't have wi-fi on board. What kind of train nowadays doesn't have wi-fi?!
Cruelty Free Beauty: Makeup Revolution Lip Lacquers
11 July, 2016
Makeup Revolution Lip Lacquers, available at Superdrug, £3 each
Makeup Revolution are a brand I've used regularly and religiously since before deciding to switch out to cruelty-free cosmetics. Not only are their products considerably cheaper than most other brands with eye shadow palettes sitting at £4 and lipsticks as little as a £1, but the products I've used from their range so far, predominately eye shadows, bronzers & blushers, have impressed me.
Liquid lipsticks are EVERYWHERE at the minute, and I'm a newbie to the whole game. However, when browsing through Superdrug I noticed Makeup Revolution were serving up their contribution to the liquid lipstick game at only £3 a pop. It seemed like the perfect opportunity to try out a liquid lippie, so I walked away with two in my basket.
Valley of the Dolls

Dress*: Valley of the Dolls // Sunglasses: Spitalfields Market // Boots: Topshop
I first discovered 70s inspired label, Valley of the Dolls, at JOY's press day last year and from the off, it was love at first sight. A brand that celebrates bell sleeves, crochet, eccentric prints and denim flares has my heart within seconds. When they asked me to pick a piece from their current collection, I was like a kid in a sweet shop. How on earth could I narrow it down to one?
My Winchester City Guide
04 July, 2016
I studied my undergraduate Illustration & Graphic Arts degree at Winchester School of Art, but during my student years I lived in the neighbouring city of Southampton (and still do!). Due to only being timetabled to attend university a few hours a week, I never actually spent too much time in Winchester itself. Also, I was a pretty terrible student which led to me skipping a lot of lectures and tutorials, but, at the end of the day, I finished university with a semi-decent grade.
Last weekend I decided to spend the day as a tourist re-exploring my old university city, which sits only a 15 minute journey from Southampton and an hour from London Waterloo. Winchester is known for its rich history, cobble stoned streets, magnificent cathedral and has even been labelled as the 'best place to live in Britain' by The Sunday Times. Pegasus Life challenged me to list my top hotspots and things to do in this modest yet wonderful city.
