Festival: Win a Pair of Tickets to See Massive Attack @ BST in Hyde Park!

22 June, 2016

Today marks the day a couple of hundred thousand people descend upon the rolling hills of Worthy Farm to dance the days away at Glastonbury Festival. Usually I am one of those people, but unfortunately this year the worst happened... I missed out on tickets, which is quite ironic as I have written this post on how to get Glastonbury tickets. Above is a throwback photo to last year's adventures on the farm. I'm suffering from a serious case of FOMO right now and plan to spend the next five days sulking whilst avoiding all social media coverage of the festival.

However, on the bright side, next week we're off to BST in Hyde Park with a bunch of other blogger buds to see Massive Attack & Patti Smith (who I annoyingly missed at Glastonbury last year). And, guess what?! I've got two pairs of tickets to give away to two lucky readers (yep, I get to choose TWO winners!) courtesy of BST & Outside Org. All you have to do is follow the steps below on the Rafflecopter form. Simple.

  • Two pairs of tickets will be sent to two separate winners who will be chosen at random & whose tickets will be sent to them via email before the event.
  • Gates open at 2pm & you can find more information about the event here
  • Find the full terms and conditions for entry here.

Health | Virgin Active Spa Treatment at The Brewery, Romford

17 June, 2016

Last month I was invited down to experience a spa treatment and use of the facilities at Virgin Active Health Club in The Brewery, Romford. Having never been one to really pamper myself, I had actually never been had a spa treatment before, so this was a whole new experience for me. I was kindly allowed to bring along someone else, so I decided to bring along my lovely mum for a well-deserved, relaxing day out.

Virgin Active sits inside opposite Sainsbury's and presents quite a modest exterior, however when you walk through the entrance it's rather overwhelming just how huge the club is with a spacious cafe area followed by a expansive space full of workout equipment and an overlooking upstairs space with even more gym equipment! As we visited on a Sunday afternoon the gym was rather quiet meaning there was plenty of machines and weights that were available to use, but I wasn't there to get a sweat on (unless it included the sauna, of course). Nope, I was there for an afternoon of nothing more than pure relaxation, so the cross trainer just didn't look too appealing that day.

An Open Love Letter To My Dress

70s Vintage Bohemian Festival Outfit

Dress*: Beyond Retro // Waistcoat: Vintage via Charity Shop // Boots: Missguided

The rumours are true; I've fallen in love with my sartorial soulmate.

I don't think I'll ever love another dress as much as this one. It's everything I've been searching for in a dress: straight out of the seventies, maxi, angel sleeves and an incredibly intricate retro print. If I'm ever to get married one day, I'm not even sure that my future wedding dress will ever quite match up to this one.

Cruelty Free Beauty: Illamasqua Lipsticks (Buff & Maneater)

Cruelty Free Illamasqua Lipsticks
Illamasqua Lipsticks*: HQ Hair

A few weeks ago I was sent a surprise parcel (the best kinda parcel) from the super babes at HQ Hair. Inside were two Illamasqua lipsticks to add to my ever growing cruelty free cosmetics collection; a nudey brown named Buff and a matte red named Maneater. Now I've never really used Illamasqua before, although I've been a fan girl for Illamasqua's kick ass branding and colourful, creative campaigns. I think the main reason I had never used Illamasqua before was simply down to its higher than most price point.

Beyond Retro Festival

Dress*: Beyond Retro // Hat*: ASOS // Blouse: Zara // Boots: Dr. Martens

A few weeks ago I dropped by the Beyond Retro Cheshire Street store to pick out a few festival pieces for the current festival season. Whilst I'm personally not going to any this year *sob*, I still like the idea of dressing up, throwing some glitter on my face, sticking on my favourite records and cracking open some strawberry ciders in the garden to get in the mood! With a little imagination, a drunken haze and a flower crown, your garden can be your Glastonbury!

As you may already know, Beyond Retro are one of my favourite vintage stops for festival attire. I even shot their Glastonbury edit with them last year and covered the festival for their social media channels, which was so much fun! Every season they pull out all the most festival appropriate garms to create their huge festival edit for you to nab the best vintage festival pieces.

Cruelty Free Beauty: Barry M Showgirl Extra Volume Mascara Review

05 June, 2016
Barry M Showgirl Extra Volume Mascara Review
Barry M Showgirl Extra Volume Mascara available at Boots

I recently made the decision to go cruelty free across all of my cosmetics, which is something I should have done a long, long time ago. This has meant transitioning my beauty products over to more animal friendly ones. During the process I've decided to start introducing cruelty-free beauty reviews onto my blog that will cover from make-up to haircare to skincare and everything else in between.

Before switching to cruelty free products, I swore by using Benefit's They're Real mascara to accentuate my fair, stubby little lashes. However, sadly Benefit do still test on animals so I've had to remove them from my cosmetics list. Finding a new mascara that suited me and my overly sensitive eyes was going to be a challenge, so I decided to go to the cruelty free Twitter community for a replacement recommendation. A few people, including Vivi from 'Sammy sans Cruelty' (a wonderful blog for cruelty free beauty reviews), came back to me with the Barry M Showgirl mascara, so the next day I popped into Boots and bought it.

Little House on The Prairie

01 June, 2016

Blouse: Charity Shop // Sunglasses: Spitalfields Market // Skirt*: Tick Tock Vintage // Boots: Missguided

The folk trend is something that has always appealed to me. Maybe it's my penchant for the seventies, embroidered blouses and the likes of folk musicians, but it's a trend I've always gravitated towards.
