Getting Crafty at Christmas

Christmas Crafting with John Lewis

I'm not much of a crafter despite my creative history having studied an illustration degree at art school. I do use the term 'studied' rather loosely though. However, in recent weeks I've found myself at not one but two separate Christmassy craft events which has finally led to me feeling a little more festive and a little more creative than usual!

Carpet Camouflage with Carpetright

White Cat Camouflaged Into Carpet

Whenever a campaign lands in my inbox that involves one of the pets in my life, I get this overwhelming sense of pride come over me, and that is exactly what happened when Carpetright's Carpet Camouflage campaign landed in my inbox.

Originally Carpetright's outreach email, which asked for me to take some photos of a pet camouflaged against one of Carpetright's products, was intended for my dog, Toffee. Unfortunately due to the long-winded house move I'm currently involved in, I didn't have the time to visit home and make the deadline that was set, but that certainly wasn't going to halt my eagerness for getting involved. Nope! Instead, I suggested that we could use Tink, James' not-so-little white cat, to model for us on a white carpet.

How to Spend 24 Hours in Amsterdam

How to Spend 24 Hours in Amsterdam

I've gotten to the point where I feel homesick for Amsterdam, despite being born and raised in London. Over the past two years I've been to the Netherlands five or six times (I've honestly lost count) and I've truly fallen for it. You can see from my previous blog posts on Amsterdam, that I am utterly besotted. Everyone has that first love that their heart just cannot let go of and mine just happens to be a city rather than an actual human being.

When I saw Accor Hotels were challenging bloggers to write a post describing exactly how they would spend 24 hours in a city of their choice, it was always going to be Amsterdam for me. I'm not really one for tourist attractions, so I've based my post on how I would typically spend one of my days in Amsterdam guided by some of my favourite places that I've chanced across over the past couple of years.

Turtle Bay Southampton Review

Turtle Bay in Southampton was always a regular haunt for me during my student years in the city; the 2 for 1 cocktails offer that runs throughout most of the day was always too tempting to resist. However, somehow I have always avoided eating there, not out of personal choice, but because when you’re a student you tend to prioritise spending your student loan on alcoholic beverages over food.

James and I were recently invited down to the Southampton-based, Caribbean cuisine restaurant to sample the menu and I really couldn’t contain my excitement. When I worked a part-time job on the high street, my walk to work used to take me past Turtle Bay most days and the mouthwatering spicy smells of the food from the kitchen used to drift out teasingly onto the street. You could stand outside for hours and revel in that sweet, sweet aroma!
