To Hell With Good Intentions

Silk Slip Dress*: c/o Vintage Style Me // Waistcoat: Urban Outfitters (old), Present // Necklace*: c/o Tentative Decisions // Flatforms*: c/o Tribeca Shoes

A little while back now, I saw this post by the lovely Rhiannon, the talented lady behind online store Vintage Style Me, and I was truly inspired by her styling of a vintage, silk nightwear slip as outerwear. On initial thought to some, wearing a nightie as a daytime dress may seem a little sleazy but Rhiannon works it with every bit of class and elegance. She wore it wonderfully by toughening it up with a pair of boots, which looked so effortless. In fact, upon first glance you wouldn't guess it was nightwear at all!

Rhiannon then sweetly offered to send me two vintage slips from her store, Vintage Style Me, to style myself into everyday daytime looks. This dusty pink, little number is the first of the two! I decided to juxtapose the feminine, silky, pink with a leather, studded waistcoat to grunge it up a little. My new Tribeca flatforms seemed to sit hand-in-hand with the matching waistcoat. I've already got so many ideas for the second silk slip, especially down to my recent obsession with Boardwalk Empire and the wonderful costume choice of all of the flapper girls!

  9. Love this outfit, the juxtaposition is great. Your hair is amazing too! Think I might have to get those flatforms, I've been after them for a while. Wish I could pull off the whole underwear-as-outerwear trend as well as you.

  10. It's so pretty that until you mentioned it was a nighty, I just assumed it was a dress! The dusty pink really suits you & I love the contrast here between the soft, delicate slip & then tougher wistcoat & shoes, btw the waistcoat is just lovely!

  22. aw yes! love nighties/slips as dresses, I've worn my mums for years, they're not that obviously nighties so i never mention it as I thought it sounded weird (and my mum always laughed at me raiding the airing cupboard) but they're one of my favourite things in my wardrobe. Love how you've styled this- I really like the colour and the length, just wish I hadn't cut mine so short! xx

  23. Ahhh Leigh I've been a bad blogger lately can't believe I nearly missed this but it's GORGEOUS! This has to be one of my favourite outfit combos! I've always thought of wearing PJ's as normal wear but never had to courage to pull it off. I suppose if you find the right night dress it works! You should wear this for a night out down the pub or something. Love the juxtaposition and you rocking the new shoes. Really subtly sexy :)
