What I Wore To London Fashion Week AW '13

22 February, 2013
You've seen the street style shots of my favourite looks in the courtyard at LFW on Tuesday, now here's my own outfit details of what I wore to the event. Unfortunately, I never managed to take any of my own outfit photos however, I was street styled myself numerous times so I've managed to gather a collection of street style photos that others captured of my outfit (credits and links at the bottom of this post).

Travelling up to London was a spur of the moment decision for myself. I actually rolled over in bed on Tuesday morning debating whether or not to go, because my initial plans to travel there with my housemate fell through and I was far too nervous to go it alone. However, I gave myself the kick up the bum I needed (not physically - that would be almost impossible!) and jumped on the 10am train to London Waterloo. Since it was a spontaneous decision I didn't have too much time to plan or think about my outfit, so instead I just pretty much threw on a few of my favourite items from my wardrobe all together! Once I finally arrived in London after being cramped on a train for an hour full of half term school kids I registered with BFC to gain a pass for the exhibitions thanks to my blog. I was pleasantly taken aback when the ever so lovely girl behind the desk (Melisa from The Avenue Online) said she was a reader of my blog! Little recognitions like that do truly make my day! Unfortunately I was on a time limit to get back to Southampton so I didn't see too much of the exhibition sadly.

Hat: H&M, £12.99 // Sunglasses: River Island Sale, £2 // Feather Braid: Claire's, £3.50 // Necklace: Urban Outfitters, £10.80 (inc. staff discount) // Maxi Dress: ASOS Sale , £35 // Faux Fur Coat: Zara Sale, £23 // Leather Gilet: All Saints Sale, £150 // Paisley Kimono: Minkpink via Urban Outfitters Sale, £30 (inc. staff discount) // Rucksack*: c/o Grafea // Rings*: New Look, Unknown, c/o Tentative Decisions // Shoes: eBay, £28

The entire day I was constantly compared to a modern day Stevie Nicks, which I've decided to accept as a huge compliment as I'm massive Fleetwood Mac fan. I've had this beautiful neon dip dye lace maxi for a year or so but have never had the opportunity to wear it so I was happy to debut it at Somerset House. It will definitely be venturing out of the wardrobe a lot more this summer thanks to the upcoming neon trend. In fact, my H&M hat is the only recent purchase which I bought just last week, the rest is a mixture of garments I've collected from over the years. The charming white leather rucksack was a gift from Grafea last year that has firmly become one of my favourite bags ever and is perfect for the SS season. It's such a timeless piece that I'm certain to use year after year! My main priority for travelling to London was to do some street style sketching of the outfits in a hope to maybe inspire an idea for my Final Major Project, even though fashion illustration was a complete different tangent from what I was working on originally. Inevitably I was sidetracked by meeting some wonderful characters, enjoying the sun in the courtyard, shooting some street style and just general lapping up the atmosphere. I really wish I had planned in advance and had gone down earlier in the week too! In September I will definitely be more prepared!
