Monochrome & Neon (Long time, no blog)

19 March, 2013

Bomber Jacket*: c/o Fashion Union // Dress: Topshop Tall, £26 // Neon Beanie: eBay, £2.20 // Necklace: Urban Outfitters, £10.50 (w/ staff discount) // Sunglasses: Camden Market, £5 // Clutch Bag: H&M Sale, £7 // Boots: Topshop, £75

I understand my blogging these days is a bit unreliable and unpredictable. Unfortunately, the every day stresses in life of being a 22 year old female trying to juggle a job, third year of university, freelancing, paying the rent and blogging whilst maintaining a healthy social life is becoming more than I can handle. I've been struck down the past month with the flu in where I struggled to get out of bed, let alone piecing together outfits for my blog as well as facing the deadline of my last ever academic essay. On top of this has been the stress of just being a female in her early twenties over run with hormones having no clue in which direction her life is heading. The panic of life after university has set in. Unlike a lot of people, I've decided to not move back home and put down a deposit on a house instead, which is terrifying at the same time as being exciting. This will be the first time in three years I am going to have to find a way to support myself without the aid of my student loan and I have no idea whether it will work out. Needless to say the past month I have been in full emotional breakdown mode.

I've decided to pop home to Essex for a few days in order to relax and get my head together. It seems to be doing the job thankfully. Last month, I was hugely inspired by the street style at London Fashion Week, in particular the monochrome and neon trend that the girls of the courtyard were sporting. When Fashion Union asked me kindly to pick a few pieces from their website, this Glamourous label chiffon, monochrome bomber jacket was at the top of my list. As it's chiffon, it's a lovely, light fabric, which is perfect for the upcoming spring months (if it EVER arrives) and has become a staple for me with the monochrome trend. I may have broken a rule of fashion as big as double denim with double monochrome in this outfit, but I don't care. I love the way this Topshop stripe, band back dress works with my new bomber jacket. The clutch bag was a guilty buy a few days ago as I really do not have the money to be spending on clothes. However, the holographic petrol colour was just too good to pass up for just £7!

The neon beanie, which isn't showing it's colour too well in these photographs, was an absolute bargain from this seller on eBay at just over £2 inc. p&p! I've even got the same one in purple and I've decided to buy them in a few more colours too. If the neon trend is a little too extravagant for you, but you still want to wear it then these beanies are perfect for just adding a hint of florescent to your outfit.

  18. You are so FASHUN Leigh ;) Looking really cool here, I like the mix of monochrome, looks good! Neon was a massive LFW thing wasn't it? Must say I love a good beanie if only for keeping my icecold ears snug hehe!

Hope you're not floundering too much at uni :( I remember third year was SO mental - I had panic attacks and was diagnosed with moderate to severe depression... which turned out to be just a couple of months long luckily. At least you've not got too long left, and don't put extra pressure on yourself with trying to decide what to do with your life. As long as you're happy, healthy, and safe, that is GENUINELY all that matters
