OOTD: A Leopard Never Changes Her Spots

You may have already seen this outfit featured over on Katy's blog in her "How To Wear" weekly feature. She asked me to put together an outfit that included some pattern clashing. I've been complimented a couple of times on my ability to pull of wearing two clashing patterns a few times before, but when it came to Katy asking me to intentionally put together an outfit that clashed without looking like a mismatched patchwork quilt, I must admit I struggled. I've never really thought too much into wearing two or more different patterns together in the past, I've just had to experiment. I think print-clashing is completely down to trial and error, you never know if two prints will compliment one another unless you try!

I have found that when wearing two different prints it is always best to break them up with something whether it be a belt, a cheeky flash of your midriff or opaque black tights like I've done here. It makes the whole look a lot easier on the eye so you can distinguish the two prints rather than letting them all blend into one crazy, chaotic mess. I was feeling brave and went for a TRIPLE pattern clash here. I know, right?! Polka dots, leopard spots and aztec print. However, unusually I found it worked. I would have never have thought about putting these all together in one outfit beforehand, which just goes to show it's all about experimenting and having a little fun with prints.

This is a scheduled post, because I'm at work right now and tonight I already know I'll be in a panicky state last minute packing for my move tomorrow. I'm really excited even though I'm technically going to have a lot less room in the new house, but I'm looking forward to a fresh start with some new people. It's time to put the past in the past and move on to better things.
